Oscar C. Bjorlie will direct
in Southern Oregon college
choir in the annual Christmas
program to be given Sunday,
December 12, in Churchill hall

College Choir
To Give Annual
Vesper Service
Ashland Xumbers to be pre
sented by the Southern Oregon
college choir for the annual
Christmas vesper program Sun
day, December 12, have been
announced by Director Oscar
J. Bjorlie. The program, to be
presented at 3:30 D.m. will be
the annual candlelight presenta
tion of seasonal music. Accom
panist for the choir will be Miss
Helene Robinson.
The choir will open the pro
gram with nine numbers which
will include a Gregorian chant,
Palestrina's "Gloria Patri" and
Glarum's "Sing Praises." Paul
Sherier will present a solo.
The girls' sextet will sing two
numbers, "All My Heart This
Nisrht Rejoices" and "Angels We
have Heard on High," both ar
ranged by Mr. Bjorlie.
A mixed octet will sing "Ye
Watchers and : Ye Holy Ones"
and the traditional "Deck the
Halls" and a male quartet will
sing two traditional numbers,
including the popular "God Rest
Ye Merry Gentlemen."
A - group of - choir, numbers
will close the program. The
group will include a Norwegian
carol, numbers of Christiansen
and one arranged by Director
Bjorlie. Miss Yvonne Claypool
will be featured in a solo. '

Point. Parent-Teacher associa
tion will meet Wednesday, De
cember 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the
home of Mrs. O. T. Wilson, 431
North Second street. The topic,
"Sensible Sex Answers" will be
led by Mrs. Bert Simmons.
All mothers interested are in
vited to attend.

Friends Gather
At Allen Home
A group of friends gathered
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.
C. Allen Jr., on the Rogue River
Saturday evening for a potluck
dinner. Following dinner motion
pictures taken in the Puget
Sound area were shown.
The pictures were taken dur
ing vacation boat trips made by
the Aliens, their son and daugh
ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. C.
Allen III, and Mr. and Mrs. Car
roll Miller. The pictures included
scenes between Anacortes and
Nanaimo on Puget Sound.
. About 25 attended the party

Pendleton, depart ment com
mander of Patriarchs Militant,
made his official visit to Siski
you canton during the annual
Christmas party of the canton
and auxiliary last Friday. It was
held at Medford IOOF hall, and
election of officers for both
, -po . took place during
separate business sessions.
Coi. Ira Rinker, Sweet
Home, inspector for the depart
ment, was unable to be present
as planned and the inspection
was conducted by Major Arthur
Kellert, Kirby. Col. E. W. Pease,
Medford, was also present and
other guests were from Grants
Pass and Klamath Falls.
Maj. Gen., Terney spoke to the
two groups concerning how. the
work of the Odd Fellows and
Rebekahs may be advanced. He
also talked of the state conven
tion to be held in La Grande
in May. ,
" Mr. and Mrs. Terney went to
Grants Pass Monday for another
dinner and inspection of the
canton there.
Brig. Gen. Ed C. Abbey,
O'Brien, was present and spoke
of his wife, state secretary of
the Ladies' ; auxiliary, who was
seriously injured in an automo
bile accident' some time ago.
Mrs. O'Brien, now "in a Rose-
burg hospital, was said to be
recovering.
. New officers elected by the
canton are Frank Maness, cap
tain; George Swinney, clerk;
Vern Knight, Central Point,
lieutenant; W. H. Dyer, ensign.

Instead of having the tradi
tional gift exchange during the
dinner, a donation of money
was made to the state presi
dent's fund to buy a new electric
stove for the,Odd Fellows' home
in Portland.

Girl Scoufs
Girl Scout Troop 39 recently
held a potluck supper to com
plete work on the cooking
badge. Each girl took a dish she
had prepared herself. After the
meal the girls did the cleanup
work and then . played -games.
Earlier in the year the troop
held a Halloween party, with
guests coming in costumes and
masks. After .games, refreshments-were
served. !
, The troop is now working on
the project of dressing a doll
for Christmas.
