. NEW LINCOLN MODELS The 1953 mod
els of Lincoln cars went on display this morn'
Ing at Medford Motors, Sixth and Ivy sts. The
new cars feature a number of. mechanical'
" and styling innovations,, including jaliall-new
turbo-drive automatic ; transmission;- tubeless
tires as standard equipment; an increase in
horsepower and improved economy. The top
picture shows the sleek, overall style fea
tures, and the lower picture shows the unus
ual canted taillight assembly, and the mas
sive rear, bumper, which incorporates the
twin exhausts as part of the assembly. Both
photos show the Lincoln Capri coupe.
New Lincoln Cars For 1955 Now on Display in Medford
Medford Motors, Sixth ' and
Ivy sts., this morning put on dis
play the new models of Lincoln
automobiles. ' ' .
The cars feature restyled ex
teriors, an entirely new and ex
clusive turbo-drive transmission
and major 'chassis Innovations.
A new horizontal grille bar
behind the front -bumpers, and
a new gold Lincoln crest create
distinctive ornament. The
forward-thrust theme of the cars
is highlighted by the new raked
headlights. 4--Longer
Panel
The rear Quarter panel is
eight inches longer than in pre
vious models, and features an
unusual canted taillight assem
bly, which compliments . the
headlight treatment. Twin ' ex
hausts are incorporated into the
rear bumper.. ? . '
With the new transmission
and more powerful engine,' the
rear axle ratio has been reduced,
permitting further improvement
in fuel economy. , ,
Riding comfort has been im
proved by .mounting rear shock
absorbers more nearly horizon
tally, giving more lateral con
trol. The mechanical leverage of
the power-braking system has
been increased, improving op
erations under power off conditions.
The new Lincoln engine is the
first in its field to have a new
18 millimeter conical seat . spark
plug, which provides a wider
heat range and, with a larger
air gap r between the insulator
and the outside shell, reduces
the possibility of spark, plug
fouling. " .
Major changes have 'been
made in material and construc
tion of many of the engine com
ponents, and the cylinder head,
valve and gasket life have, been
prolonged by revising the cylin
der head water jackets to ob
tain, more iinif orm metal temp
eratures through better circula
tion in the cooling systemVr
Fluid Said Taken
From Sen. McCarthy's
Injured Right Elbow
Washington (U.R) The Beth-
seda Nsfval Hospital announced
today "a small amount of fluid"
has been removed from Sen.
Joseph R. McCarthy's injured
right elbow via hypodermic
needle but said "this is not con
sidered technically to be an op
eration." -
The hospital statement was
issued after a photographer who
visited McCarthy's room yester
day quoted the senator as saying
that doctors . had "operated on
the elbow to take out pieces of
glass." ' - - .
- The photographer, Al Muto of
International News Pictures, was
admitted to McCarthy's hospital
room yesterday as a "pool", rep
resentative to . see McCarthy
since the senator entered the
hospital last week for treatment
of. bursitis which was said to
have resulted from banging his
right elbow against a glass top
table while shaking hands with
admirers. ,
Ak for Clarification
The report that McCarthy had
undergone an "operation" drew
from a hospital spokesman last
night the brief statement that
"no surgical operative procedue"
had been performed on the sena
tor. ;-- The statement seemed to leave
open the possibility .that doctors
had probed the elbow for pieces
of glass but that they did not re
gard this as a "surgical proce
dure." k ' ' .
In response' to requests for
further details and clarification,
the hospital's executive office
today issued the following state
ment: "Sen.-McCarthy continues to
show improvement on Monday,
a small amount of fluid was re
moved from the bursa of his
right elbow which is filled with
a fluid which, helps to prevent
friction in , movements of the
joint. .
Recognised Treatment
Hospital aides said that draw
ing out some of this fluid with a
hypodermic needle is a recog
nized treatment for bursitis,
which is a condition in which the
bursa becomes inflamed from a
blow or other cause. .

One photograph "of McCarthy
taken Monday showed him in
bed with his right arm swathed
in bandages which extended
from his waist to his armpit.
His first bedside report came
amid these other developments:

1. NBC Monday night rejected
McCarthy's request for 15 min
utes of television time Thanks
giving Day to answer the cen
sure charges against him. It gave
no reasons. McCarthy had no
comment either on the nature
of his request or his reaction to
the rejection.
2. A McCarthy supporter said
that in a bid for votes the latest
censure compromise formula has
been chdhged to eliminate any
praise of McCarthy. He also
reported that McCarthy's name
has been dropped since sOme of
his supporters refused to- go
along him any compromise con
taining criticism of the Wiscon
sin Republican. '
3 "Sen. Homer E. Capehart
(R-Ind.) predicted that a move
to censure McCarthy for his
attacks on the Senate censure
committee will fail. He also criti
cized Sen. J. William Fulbright
(D-Ark.) for expressing "grave
suspicions" that McCarthy's ill
ness is part of an effort to pre
vent a censure vote.

Dairymen To Request Milk Ma rketing Order

northern Idaho have decided to
request a federal milk market
ing order , setting a minimum
price on milk, Harry Hampton,
president of the Spokane Dairy
Producers association, - said to

Hampton said the association
would make a formal request to
the Department of Agriculture
for a survey of the milk situa
tion, first step in getting a mar
keting order put into effect.
