Moves Develop To
Call Alger Hiss
For Questioning
C; Washington U.R) A dual
move developed in Congress to
day to call Alger Hiss for ques
tioning when the former high
ranking State Department of
ficial is released from prison a
week from Saturday. ,
The House Un-American Ac
tivities Committee, headed by
Rep. Harold H. Velde (R-I1L),
discussed the question at a brief
closed meeting today but post
poned a decision until tomorrow.
More Light on Spy Ring
.Rep. Kit Clardy (R-Mich.), a
committee member defeated for
reelection Nov. 2, asked that Hiss
be questioned again. Clardy said
Hiss should shed more light
about his part in the Whittaker
Chambers spy ring, about his
connection with the 1945 Yalta
conference where he was tech
nical adviser to President Roos
evelt and about his work as sec
retary general of the conference
that set up the United Nations.
Jenner May Want Hiss

William E. Jenner (R-Ind.) told
a renorter his Senate Internal
Security Subcommittee probably
also will want to question iiiss,
possibly in a new field-alleged
Communist infiltration of con
gressional committees. '

announced yesterdayl The new
owner until recently operated the
Holiday Inn motel and cafe on
Worth Riverside ave.
Travis Mitchell and Harry
gitratman, former Top Notch
owners, will continue to operate
the business until Jan. 1.-Ruhl
took possession Monday Nov.

former location across the street

Mrs. Allen Zell and Mrs. Rita
Hegg, all from Cutbank, Mont.
Ruhl had operated it for about
IVz years and came here from
Great Falls, Mont. ' ,

For Missing Hunter

Ville Simmons, 26, Milton-Free
water, Ore'., who has been lost
since Sunday in the Toll Gate
area of the Blue mountains in
Oregon, dbout 41 miles south of
here.
r Simmons went elk hunting
early Sunday morning and told
his family he would be back the
same afternoon. He was lightly
dressed and carried only a cou-
pie oi sanawicnes, ms rifle, a
hunting knife and a few
matches. -
Heavy rains have hit the area
the past several days and snow
has fallen at higher elevations.
