Lapping Waters Bring Peace To Village

ern Mississippi, but - old-timers
among the rapidly dwindling
population like the peace. . it

Bryant lies seven miles south
of Grenada Dam, which was
completed in 1953. The back
water forming the lake is less
than five miles away and is ex
pected to touch the little com
munity of 130 persons late this
year.

only store here, misses the cracker-barrel
gatherings in his place.

I still contend this is a health
column and, in order to keep it so
nave been considering for the
past week, on the bowling green
and off, how much I can say here
about internal piles without sug
gesting symptoms. Once I said
something about a more serious
disease which may purport to be
piles. An editor down south be
came alarmed, hurried to his doc
tor for examination, found that
the trouble was piles, returned to
the office in high dudgeon, and
threw-, me. and my. pediculous
column out of his paper.
Well,: now, . having cogitated
the question, I have decided to
mention some misleading fea
tures if .this should! worry or
alarm anyone, let him consult
his physician and blame me or

One poor gook had done a lot
of "doctoring," mostly with near-
doctors, and queer-doctors, for
lumbago before an accident in
his home brought him under the
observation of an "ordinary"
doctor in his neighborhood, who
diagnosed his "lumbago,"' gave
the internal piles ambulant treat
ment, and cured the "lumbago."
Although feminine customers
are not so credulous today as
their ' untutored mothers and
grandmothers were, the constant
backache and vague sense of
pressure or congestion, in the pel
vic region, due to internal piles,
may convince the unhappy crea
ture that she has "female weak
ness" of one sort or another. '

monkeying with his diet and dos

what he called an "ulcer," grad
ually losing weight and acquir

instances is anemia, from fre
quent or constant bleeding of in
ternal piles. The bleeding is not
noticed by the patient because
the blood darkens in the intes
tine and is not - recognized as
blood in the dejecta. This anemia I
