parties , to be sponsored by St.
Mary's Parents club is an
nounced for Wednesday, Novem
ber 10, at 8 p.m., at the Catholic
church parish hall. The events
are open to the public.
Canasta, pinochle and bridge
will be played and refreshments
will be served during the eve
ning. The committee women are

' Members of Medford Women's
Christian- Temperance union
will devote the November meet
ing, .set. for Thursday, Novem
ber 11. to the. interests of the
Children's Farm home, Corval
lis, which the Oregon WCTU
owns and supports. Thursday's
meeting will be at .2 p.m. at
Girls Community club.
The home, operated in Ore
eon since 1923. at that time had
I two cottages and could care for
40 cnuaren. it now has nine.
standard cottages and one emer
gency cottage, and can care for
186 children. Located on 285
acres of land, the home is open
to children between the ages of
5 and 17 who by some misfor
tune rhave : been deprived 1' of
their natural homes.. ;
The home has its own accred
ited school, conducts non-denominational
Christian services and
m general provides a home
"where honor, truth, industry
and loyalty to. God and man are
taught .
Local - union members each
year provide Christmas gifts for
the children at the home. For
girls articles of clothing, mani
cure , equipment, girlish cos
metics, soap and oerfume, hair
ribbons, clips and- curlers, . cro
chet and embroidery thread,
patterns, sewing kits or dolls
are suggested.
For boys such gifts as clothes,
wallets, billfolds, shaving sets,
shop tools or athletic equipment
are needed. For either boys or
girls articles suggested are art
and handcraft material, musical
instruments in good condition,
Girl or Boy scout equipment,
dentifrices, combs,, brushes, pen
or pencil sets, stationery, books,
diaries, zipper notebooks, skates
or fishing tackle.
For the home the director sug
gests bedding towels, "napkins,
yardage, aprons, attractive chil
dren s . pictures, rugs or bath
mats, small suitcases, 'pottery
articles, flower; containers,
bulbs, plants or seeds, lamps,
bedside stands or-other furni
ture, or electric equipment.
Good used clothing is always
acceptable, it is stated, and gifts
of money are always ap
preciated. v -:
It is pointed out that several
Jackson county children are al
ways at the home, and that do
nations of any kind from citizens
or groups will be appreciated by
the local union.
For Thursday's meeting Mrs.
Sanden will give devotions and
Mrs. Ernest Santo will provide
music. Mrs. Eva Low is refresh

the decorations for the Sojourn
ers club meeting Thursday. Mes-
dames E. T. DiVecchio, J. H,
Parker and J. Weedle were the
hostesses.
Flags and miniature military
figures were used as center
pieces fir each' table and flags
with flowers and candles deco
rated the luncheon table. Flags
of all nations were displayed.
Mrs. M. H. Parsons and Mrs.
George Modoff became members
and Mrs. Malcolm Hall was a
prospective member present.
Mrs. Lottie F.ansdell had as
her guest, Mrs. L. Standly of
Klamath Falls. Birthday greet
ings were extended to Mrs.
DiVecchio and prizes were won
by Mrs. C. M. Lee and Mrs.' R.
McNeil."
A miscellaneous auction was
conducted with Mrs. S. D. Ear
hart as auctioneer.
Cards were played with ,Mrs.
L. E. Juniper and Mrs. H. T.
Boyd winning the bridge
awards; and Mrs. A. J. Marineau
and Mrs. J. H. Parker won the
pinochle prizes. "

elimination of the dining room,
which she said cost too much to
furnish for what use-the family
made of it; and the elimination
of inside barriers. . -
"I don't mean lack of walls,"
she said. "I refer to the openness
and airiness of today's homes.
People have re-discovered hare
floors and big windows." " , .
Miss . Kahane, who once used
grey flannel for the wall-covering
of a man's study, said' today's
housewife has greater chance for
individuality in the home than
ever before. ' .
. "First off," 'she said; '"her
taste is better'' than ever; And
there are so many new materials
to work with the plastics, new
wood finishes and metals," the
washability and serviceability of
fabrics and paints. -
"And 'above all, there's color
-colors to work with as never
before. Use of color is the cheap
est way to redecorate." -
Miss Kahane has started some
unusual color trends. -She has
combined pink and orange for
pleasing and dramatic results,
and set a bunch of women to
copying when she came out. with
a black, white and orange color
scheme for a living room.
