Canvass To Open
At Presbyterian;
New Class Slated
An annual Every-Member can
vass will open Sunday at the
First Presbyterian church.
Don Whalin, general chair

during a luncheon which will be
served after the second church
service.
Dr. D. K. West will preach
on "Marks of a Living Church"
and members of a Christian
Youth deputation team from
Lewis and Clark college of Port
land, will have parts in the serv
ice. Clarence L. Smith will be
the soloist for both the morning
services.
Westminster Fellowship panel
will be conducted by Larry
Clark, Deanna Bruning, LeRoy
Walls nd and Darrel Ross when
they discuss the basis of Christ
ian beliefs. Fireside hour will
be at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Dr. West will start a Young
People's churchmanship class ex
plaining what the Presbyterian
church stands for, as well as
what the Christian doctrine in
cludes, at 5 o'clock. This class
is open to all young people
whether they intend to join the
church or not.
Airs. Chester Wendt, presi
dent of the .Women's association,
has called a special meeting of
the group for 12 noon Sunday,
in the Fireplace room, to vote on
an action recently approved by
the executive committee. .

NEW FRIENDS CHURCH The Friends con
gregation here recently dedicated an addition
to the Sunday school unit, shown to the left
in the picture above. The addition was neces
sary because of the increase in Sunday school
attendance which now totals about 200. The
structure is frame and the unit is equipped
with a heating plant, and 75 chairs and a piano
were added. The brick part of the structure is
the original church, which was built in 1945
after the denomination had conducted services
in Medford elsewhere for two years. Milo C.
Ross, now president of George Fox college at
Newburg, organized the church and contin
ued here as the leader for several years. The
. Rev. Carl Miller succeeded him for a year
when the Rev. Clynton Crisman succeeded
him and is the present leader of the church.

Observance Set
The first anniversary of the
establishment of the Sunday
school will be celebrated Sunday
at the Congregational church,
300 Oakwood dr. Recognition
will be given to those who were
present at that first session and
have continued. The attendance
that first Sunday was 25. On a
recen Sunday it reached 45.
The superintendent of the Sun
day school is Mrs. Richard
Travis. Teachers include Mrs.

R. Moffet, Mrs. Howard Glas
cock, Mrs. F. C. Ayres, Mrs.

In order to make room for fur
ther growth, work has been
started on -a new Sunday school
building which is to be construct
ed in a large pavilion now on the

Missionaries To
Speak at Baptist
The Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Gors
line and son, Eddie, returned
Conservative Baptist mission
aroes from Brazil, will be at the
First Baptist church Sunday.
Mrs. Gorsline will speak to a
combined opening service of the
Sunday school at 9:45 a. m. She
and the son will visit for the re
mainder of the Sunday school
hour with the junior department.
The juniors corresponded with
the Gorsines while they were in
Brazil and have a fund for their
use in vacation Bible school work
when the missionaries return to
their work. The Rev. Mr. Gors
line will be the speaker at the
7:30 evening service.
Pastor F. Carl Truex will use
as his text at the 11 o'clock
morning worship hour, "For as
often as ye eat this bread, and
drink this cup, ye do shew the
Lord's death till He come."
Music will be provided by the
adult choir, directed by J. Robert
Cochran. Mrs. Ted Graham is
organist. At the close of the
morning service new members
will be welcomed into the church
and the ordinance of the Lord's
Table will be observed. -
Phoenix Nazarene
Series Announced '
Phoenix The Rev. T. H.
Stanley, an evangelist, will begin
a series of meeting in the Phoe
nix Church of the Nazarene Nox.
9. The meetings will continue
through Nov. 21.
He has conducted such series
throughout this country and he
has served as "prayer evange
list" in some cf the larger camps
in the Uazarene movement,

Boys Quartet To
Sing at Assembly
The Canyonville Bible acad
emy boys' quartet will sing at
the Medford Assembly of God,
1198 W. Main st., for the Sunday
services at 9:45 a. m.
The quartet also will sing for
the morning worship service at
11 a. m. and will present the
entire service for the young peo
ple, the Christ's ambassador at
6:30 p. m. They will participate
in the evangelistic rally at 7:45
