Mrs. Logan and the other

Grassless Terrace
Leads To Business
Cleveland. O. U.PJ At
torney Charles C. Goldman wan
dered rather far afield because
of his grassless terrace, but came
up with a new product and a po
tentially thriving business.
About eight years ago Gold
man set out to grow grass on
his terrace. It just wouldn't
grow. If rain didn't wash away
the seed, the birds had a feast
or the wind blew it away.
Goldman decided he had to
find something that would re
tard the sprouting process until
the roots had gained a strong
foothold. He finally developed
when he calls Klep Slope Grass
Anchorage, now made in his
own plant.
The fine substance is mixed
with water and spread on newly
sown grass with a watering can.
A crust forms on the ground,
forcing the roots to grow deep
since sprouting is prevented un
til the anchoring material is
finally absorbed by the soil.
Goldman claims the substance
won't injure the soil and has no
apparent ill effect on the grass.
Many psychiatrists teach that
the shoot-em-up westerns and
cartoons enable the kids to let
off the steam of their angers In
stead of taking it out on some
body else.
But Mrs. Logan and her cru
saders urge that TV and radio
broadcasters "reject programs
for children which use crime as
their basic theme."
Here's how they rate the pro
grams your moppets may cling
to:
"Cisco Kid gunplay and
punctuated by much gaiety and
laughter.
"Gene Autry usual' gun, fist
and chase routines.
"Hopalong Cassidy the
elderly cowboy never varies the
formula of crime and violence
"Roy Rogers handsome
cowboy with muscles and guns,
assisted by his brilliantly intel
lectual dog and horse and stupid
assistant.
Dick Tracy Ghastly
"Dick Tracy most shastly
and unpalatable criminal char
acters.
"Space Patrol crime and
violence among the planets, pur
sued by hero mounted on a plane
instead of a horse. Includes re
generation of evil characters.
"Tarzan still stoops to the
crime format.
"Gabby Hayes western-
type chatter in bad grammar.
"Eastside Kids hero is most
unsavory character who demon
strates almost every known kind
of anti-social behavior."
The association, now in its
third year, sends its report to
radio and TV stations and par
ent groups around the country.
So far, no station has fired
its western heroes.
