tion of L. M. Jacobson, 32, of

reported satisfactory at Sacred
Heart hospital where he was
taken yesterday after being in
jured near Woodruff Meadows in
a logging accident, attendants
report Yesterday's report of
the accident indicated that he
was at Community hospital. He
received back injuries when a
snag fell on him, according to a
teport on the accident. He is
employed by Bob Kline logging
operation.

V. Delbert (Bert) Miller, presi
dent of the Ashland Chamber of
Commerce who died at his home
yesterday, wiU be held at 10:30
a.m. Friday at the Ashland Con
gregational church. Interment
will follow at Mountainview
cemetery with Litwiller Funeral
chapel in charge.
Mr. Miller had planned to pre
side at a chamber meeting yes
terday. He had long been active in
chamber activities and in civic
affairs, and was prominent in
the real estate business. He came
to Ashland in 1923. Survivors
include his widow, a son and
daughter, and four grind

25, 1904, in Oklahoma. He at
tended school and high school
at Corvallis, Ore., graduated
from Oregon State college in
1931, and earned his master's
degree in educatiqn at the Uni
versity of Washington. He was
active in football, baseball, and
basketball in high school and
college, and coached football at
Klamath Union High school.
Coos Bay High school, and Shel
by, Mopt., High school. He saw
service in the U.S. Air Corps
during World War II. Follow
ing the war, he coached basket
ball at Juneau, Alaska, High
was principal of Juneau High
school in 1946 and 1947, and
school from 1948 until the time
of his death.
He was a member of Oregon
Beta chapter of Phi Delta Theta
and a key member of the Juneau
Lions club. At the time of his
death, he was visiting at the
home cf Kenneth E. Denman,
at 104 Geneva st., Medford.
On June 29, 1933, at Klamath
Falls, he was married to Sarah
(Sally) Taylor, who survives.
Other survivors include a sis
ter, Mrs. Pearl Schlegel, Menlo
Park, Calif.; and four brothers,
Carl, Chico, Calif.; Roy, Seattle,
Wash.; Virgil Fairview, Ore.;
and Russell, Foster, Ore.

Mrs. Gertrude Searles Spilver,
81, a resident of Medford since
1924 and wife of the late Henry
F. W. Spilver, died today in Sa
lem. Funeral arrangements are
in charge of Chapel Mortuary.

crop will be held Friday, Aug.
14, from 8 a. m. to 9 p. m. in
the Jackson county Production
and Marketing administration
office on the first floor of the
courthouse, according to Talbert
Sehorn, office manager.
Immediately after the elec
tion, the ballots will be publicly
counted by the staff, - he re
ported. About 65 growers in the
county are. eligible to participate
in the election, Sehorn pointed
out.
Any owner or operator hav
ing an interest in a certain
farm's crop is eligible to vote, he
said. Only farmers who plan to
grow more than 15 acres of
wheat in 1954 are eligible, how.
ever.
Farms which are exempt from
wheat marketing quotas are
those on which the normal pro
duction of the acreage planted
to wheat is less than.200 bushels
and where the acreage is IS
acres or less.

Each of the farms is valued at
about $10,000. Some of the land
has already been irrigated and
