campaign. They draw a bye.
Sawdust circuit combats this
week are Brookings at Rose
burg, Drain at Bandon and Co
quille at Coos Bay. Drain is in
first place by a two-game mar
gin over Coos Bay and Bandon
is figured to have a good chance
of helping the bay city nine close
the gap on the Black Sox.

Seven boys who finished their
football careers at Medford high
school last fall have college
plans: most of them slated to
enter Oregon State college.
Tackle Alex Hamilton, Guard
Bill Davis and End Hal Vrooman
will go to Oregon State, Hamil
ton and Vroman to study fores
try and Davis for an agriculture
course.
End David Whisenant will en
roll at University of Oregon and
Bill Pederson is set to enter Cal
Tech.
OSC HAS EDGE
Backfield Ace Don Spinas
has not definitely decided but
Oregon State may be the
choice. He's also interested in
forestry. Spinas reportedly
won't play football but will
continue in track.

That's the word from Brig.
John Rockingham, Vancouver,
who commanded the 25th in
Korea until relieved this spring.
Rockingham said:
"The troops are extremely
well fed. Still, they miss those
little tidbits they used to get at
home, like canned - chicken or j
any kind of seafood, especially
crab or lobsters."
He said, "our troops get no
fish in their rations and would
appreciate fish food parcels to
supplement their diet. They
could also do with tea bags.

year to hit a record annual rate
of $264,000,000, the Commerce
Department reported Friday.

ENTER AIR FORCE
Connie Holzgang and Don Wil
kinson, basketball and baseball
players who finished Medford
high in 1950, left Monday to
enter the Air Force. They were
processed and sworn in at Port
land and sent from there to
Parks Air Force base in Cali
fornia. Holzgang attended Ore
gon State .college almost two
years and Wilkinson went one
term to OSC then entered South
ern Oregon college. Both played
softball for Mobilgas this sum
mer.
EX-ROGUES SEEN
While in Salem recently we
saw a couple of ex-Medford
Rogue baseballers playing for
Yakima against. Salem in the
Western International circuit.
Mike Donahue was in his fa
miliar catcher post while
Chuck Malmberg, shortstop for
the Rogues, played second
base that night for Yakima.
Malmberg drove in the first
run for the Bears and. Dona
' hue scored a tying marker.
Later Malmberg struck out
with three men on base and
Donahue fanned with two men
on. Salem won the game 8 to 6.
