16 Skywatch Posts
In County Operating
All 16 civilian defense ground
observation posts in Jackson
county' are now operating, ac
cording to Col. Charles E. Staf
ford, CD county director.
The director said all posts
have reported in and it is assum
ed that the posts are on at least
a 14-hour basis, although only
three have been inspected by
the local CD office.
Both Col. Stafford and County
Commissioner L. G. (Shy) Morth-
land, president of . the county
CD organization, are making an
inspection of all the 16 posts
which will be completed within
a week.
Gratified with Work
Up to thisi morning the two
man team had visited posts at
Provolt, Ruch and Rogue Riv
er, and were "very gratified"
at the work of the observers.
They described these posts arS
"really doing a job" on a 14-
hour a day schdule and by
prompt reporting. All three
posts have been complimented
by the Portland filter center,
they continued, and included
Mrs. Grace B. Hallenbeck, Pro
volt; Glen W. Smith, Ruch; and
Howard Miller, Rogue River.
"Operation Skywatch," as the
observation project is . called,
went into action on July 14 with
24 of the state's posts on 24
hour duty and 49 activated less
than 24 hours. Up to last Thurs
day, 61 posts had not begun
operation.
Aiding these CD groups are
48 U.S. Forest Service and 71
state forestry lookouts.

end or near-end of a romance
comes as a hard blow. And yet,
such blows cannot ruin a per

viewpoint about them. That is
what this young girl should do:
(Q) "I had gone steady with
a fellow for over a year when
he decided that he didn't want
to go steady any more. I real
ly took it hard. We were so
much in love and always got
along so well. After a few
months he asked me out a
couple of times but I kept re
fusing. Then I just couldn't
refuse him any more and since
then we have been dating now
and then. He treats me the
same as before and he even
tells me he still loves me but
he never mentions anything
about going steady again. I
go out on other dates but can't
enjoy myself. I have even re
fused other dates just hoping
he would ask me. Please help
me."

he is not ready to settle down

he has told you he does not want

Log Price Ceiling
Changes Revealed
By OPS Director
Portland (U.R) Changes
in the ceiling price regulation
on Pacific Northwest logs have
been announced by Carl C. Don
augh. Portland district director
for the Office of Price Stabil
ization. The changes, effective July 26,
include establishment of a new
district comprising Lincoln and
Tillamook counties in Oregon.
These counties formerly were
part of the Columbia river dis
trict. Ceilings prescribed for the
new district range from S2.50
to S10 lower than ceilings for
the Columbia district on major
species and grades.
Price Relations Reflected
Donaugh said the different
ceilings reflected the normal re

patient and wait for him. But if
you have reason to believe that
his interest in you is waning,
stop seeing him completely. Ev

will open up old memories and

one else.
Have Good Time
While you are away from
home, go out and have a good
time. This will not necessarily
make you forget the man you
love but it will help you to rea

in life for you after all.
