    BostwM-McCormick Rites
Take Place in Church Here
One of June's largest weddings was that of Miss Margaret Ruth
McCormick to Ray Donald Bostwick, held Saturday, June 21, at
Sacred Heart Catholic church. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. L. A. McCormick, 2002 Stage Road south, and the bride
groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bostwick, 503 Haven
street.
More than 300 guests wit
nessed the double-ring cere
mony, read by the Rev. C. J.
Linehan, and about 250 attend
ed the reception which follow
ed at Rogue Valley Country
club. The wedding day was also
the bridegroom's birthday.
White stock and gladioli ar
ranged with ferns and palms
decorafed the church altars and
candelabra held white tapers.
Bruno Pellegrini was at the
church organ.
The bride's gown was of
white lace and marquisette. A
matching lace cap held her finger-tip
veil and she carried white
roses with a white orchid.
Miss Mary Elizabeth McCor
mick, honor attendant for her
sister, wore a lime-colored frock
of lace and tulle. Her small
matching cap was trimmed with
roses. Miss Dolores Robida, Miss
Martha Spatz and Miss Corinne
Wing were bridesmaids and
Layle Bostwick, niece of the
bridegroom, was flower girl. The
bridesmaid's frocks of yellow
lace and tulle matched that of
the honor attendant and were
worn with small matching caps.
The attendants all carried colon
ial bouquets of pink roses.
The flower girl was dressed
in a white tulle frock trimmed
with roses.
Mr. McCormick escorted his
daughter to the altar, and Wil
liam A. Bostwick served as best

Mr. Bostwick and his- bride
spent their honeymoon traveling
south to San Diego where the
bridegroom, air technician third
class in the navy, is assigned to
the naval air station. He attend
ed Southern Oregon college aft
er graduation from Jacksonville
High school. The bride attended
St. Mary's academy here and
the University of Oregon.

the bride from Yakima, Wash.;
Mrs. Knight and daughter,

Aerie of Eagles was scheduled
to elect officers Saturday at its
37th annual state convention and
then conclude the sessions with
ritualistic team competition.

dent of the state auxiliary. Mrs.

dist church, Lyons, Ore., Miss

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville
C. Downing, Lyons, became the
bride of Richard Loughton
Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gil
bert E. Brown, Santa Ana, Calif.,
June 22. The Rev. Rinka Feen-
stra officiated.
The bride wore a white slip
per satin gown with train and a
fingertip veil. She carried
stephanotis and white carnations
centered with a white orchid.
Her sister, Mrs. Robert J.
Carleton, Lyons, was maid-of-honor.
She wore a yellow net
gown with lace jacket, a match
ing headdress, and her bouquet
was of Ester Reed - daisies.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. J. W.
Royce, Medford, and Mrs. Duane
M. Downing, Portland. They
wore pastel taffeta dresses,
matching headdresses and car
ried bouquets' similar to that of
the maid of honor. The flower
girl, Twila Bailey, wore a blue
taffeta dress.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. F. Wallace
Koster, Kelso, Wash., acted as
best man, and ushers were
Duane M. Downing, Portland,
and Robert J. Carelton, Lyons.
Soloist was Mrs. Donald
Sheythe, Mills City, accompan
ied by Mrs. Delos Hoeye, Silver-ton.
; After the wedding, a reception
was held in the church parlor.
Serving were Mrs. Lafe Potter,
Portland; Mrs. Kenneth Meis,
Vancouver, Wash.; Mrs. Eldon
Tietze, Salem; Miss Bernice Han
sholt, Hillsboro, Ore.; Mrs. Del

charge of the gifts was Mrs. Roy
Downing, Sutherlin, and guest

. The newlyweds will make
their home in Medford after a
wedding trip to Southern Cali
fornia. The bride graduated
fcom Oregon State college, and
the bridegroom is a graduate of
the University of California.

Healy-Shuck Rites Held
In New Medford Church
Miss Lael Shuck became the bride of Dexter Healy at the first
wedding ceremony in the new Medford Assembly of God church.
The. Rev. J. S. Manchester read the double ring ceremony at 4
o'clock, Sunday, June 22, in the presence of 400 guests.
The bride is the foster daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Vot-
aw, 320 Laurel street, and the
bridegroom is a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Alton Healy, Citrus Heights,
Calif.
The altar was decorated with
white delphinium and wild or
ange blossoms.

Miss Thelma Strawhorn, Oak
dale, Calif., a college friend, was
maid-of-honor. She wore a green
taffeta gown with matching
crown, and carried a bouquet of
yellow tarnations with ivy. '.
Miss Mabel Spinkman, Esca
lon, Calif., Miss Ethel Jacobs,
and Miss Marcella Turner, Med
ford, were bridesmaids. Their
frocks were of pastel shades and
they carried pink carnations with
ivy.
Marvin Williams, Ashland, was
best man. Pike Robinson, Ash
land, James Nilsen and Richard
Albrans seated the guests.
Miss Dolly Rasmussen and
Miss Roberta Clutter, wearing
pastel colored gowns and carna
tions on their wrist, lighted the
candles. '
Mrs. Votaw wore a light blue
ensemble with navy accessories,
while the bridegroom's mother
was attired in a lavender printed
nylon dress with navy accessor
ies. Each wore a lavender purple
throaCed orchid.

ist, while soloists were Gerald
Smith, J. N. Meredith, and Mrs.
Ted Graham, with Mrs. J. N.
Meredith accompanist. William
Verver, Ashland, "was violinist.
The reception was held at the
Votaw home. Serving the bride's
cake was Mrs. C. A. Trumbly,
Grants Pass, assisted by Mrs. A.
W. Wagner, Tacoma. Serving
punchy was Mrs. Marvin Wil
liams, Ashland, assisted by Miss
Beulah Harkey, Ashland.
Miss Nirena Meredith was in
charge of the bride's book, Miss
Hazel Hansen, the guest book,
and Miss Judy Twedell, Ashland,
the presents.

Give Dinner Monday
Seventy Scottish Rite Masons
and their wives attended a din
ner given by Scottish Rite Wom
an's club Monday evening in the
Masonic temple.
Arrangements of Ester Reed
daisies and roses decorated the
long tables.
Hostesses for the evening were
Mrs. Radie Hodges, Mrs. Melvin
A. Krows, Mrs. D. W. Bowers,
Mrs. George W. Thomas and Mrs.
Leonard C. Scott.
Ralph Lue, assisted by Mrs.
Ira D. Canfield, president of the
woman's club, introduced the
Scottish Rite Masons and their
wives. Mrs. Elizabeth Settle was
a guest of the club, and Mrs.
George W. Jacobs, a member
from Vallejo, Calif., was present.
Cards were the diversion of
the evening. Bridge prizes went
to Mrs. Frank E. English, and
Mrs. Settle, while canasta prizes
went to Mrs. Paul R. Sipple and
Mrs Kneut C. Wernmark. An
other prize was given Mrs. Scott.
This was the .last meeting of
the club this summer. A business
session will be held ' September
8, and Mrs. John Graves, Mrs.
Jack Weddle and Mrs. Tony
Franco, Ashland, will be hostesses.

ess for a recent meeting and
dinner of Cebu swamp. Military
Order of . the Lizards at her
home, 523 North Riverside av
enue. Mrs. White was assisted
by Mrs. Rosa Young.
The meeting and dinner fea
tured a bridal shower for Mrs.
Ed Grosh,. the former Mrs. Mary
Jo Schuler. . Guests for the aft
ernoon included Mrs. Ralph At
wood and Mrs. Frank Widner.
Plans were made for a picnic
meeting to be held August 2 at
the Grants Pass city park.
Californians Leave
Vacationing at the. . Robert
Norris' cabin on the Rogue River
this week were Mr. and Mrs.
Milton McDonald and Mr. and
Mrs. B. G. Hardwicke and their
son, Bobby, aU of Los Gatos,
Calif.
Mrs. McDonald is the former
Helen Norris of this city. While
living here, she was known for
her radio script writing.
The group left Saturday morn
ing after spending a week at the
cabin. Wednesday evening they
dined at the Dead Indian Soda
Springs resort.
