Minor Accident Ronald Jer
ry White, 1207 West 10th street,
and Amos Albert Casebier, 629
Palm street, were drivers of cars
involved in a traffic accident
Sunday at the intersection of
Palm and North Peach streets,
city police said. White said he
saw Casebier's car enter the in
tersection but was unable to
stop, according to police. White
was cited for violation of the
basic rule and was fined $10.
Casebier was cited for failure to
yield the right of way but was
found not guilty in police court
this morning.
Daughter Born A daughter
was born to Dr. and Mrs. Rich
ard Frederick June 17 at Sman-
uel hospital, Portland. This is
the couple's first child. Mrs
Frederick is the former Ruth
Eleanor Jones of Nethi, Utah
and Dr. Frederick is a son of
Mrs. Madge Frederick, 809 South
Peach street. Dr. Frederick was
recently graduated from the
University of Oregon dental
school and will come to Medford
shortly after July 1 to establish
a practice.

Return from Texas Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Richardson, 1132
Court street, have returned to
Medford from a three-weeks trip
to Texas. While there they visit
ed relatives in San Antonio, Dal
las and Waco. Mr. and Mrs.
Richardson were accompanied
to Texas by Mrs. Bertha Mcd
arth, Pearl, Tex., Mrs. Richard
son's mother, who had been vis
iting here since January.
Former Resident Dies
Charles E. Holmes, Falls City,
Ore,, who resided in Medford
for 15 years, died in a Dallas
hospital June 10. He is survived
by his wife;" two sons, Roland,
Medford, and Howard, Ashland;
three daughters, Mrs. Ellen Gar
dener and Mrs. Lucille Cole,
both Gresham, and Mrs. Doro
thy Portugal, Santa Rosa, Calif.,
16 grandchildren including Rich
ard Holmes, Medford, and two
great grandchildren. All of his
children attended the funeral at
Falls City.

Four Persons Hurt
In Two-Car Mishap
Four persons were Injured ear
ly Sunday in a two-car collision
on McAndrews road just west of
the intersection with Old Crater
Lake highway, according to state
police.
The cars were driven by Don
ald S. Kendall, route 1, box
108-A, Ashland, and Mary pan-
ford,, route 3, box 126-A, Med
ford, according to investigating
officers. They said it was believ
ed a mechanical failure in the
Danford car, which threw the
vehicle into the path of Ken
dall's car, was responsible for
the accident.
The two drivers and one pas
senger from each car were taken
to Sacred Heart hospital by Con
ger-Morris ambulance. Kendall
was treated for arm cuts and a
bruised knee and Tom H. Kel
log, Pasadena, Calif., a passen
ger in his car, was taken to the
hospital but received no treat'
ment, according to attendants.
Mary Danford was treated for
head cuts and released. Roma
Lee Liddcll, 712 South Newtown
street, also received treatment
for head cuts and was hospitaliz
ed oyer night, attendants re
ported.

Although this year's company
is about normal in size, the ad
ditional actors and workers are
needed because of the extremely
large casts required for two
plays.
The cast of "Henry V" num
bers 65. Dawkins said, and a
cast of 50 persons is needed for
"Julius Caesar." Men are need
ed for small speaking parts in
these plays and girls, or couples
are needed for a dance scene in
"The Tempest." In addition the
directors need curtain girls, re
hearsal secretaries and book
holders, according to Dawkins.
Anyone interested in working
with the festival company is

ean shell in Ashland, or call the

Coos Bay School
Principal Attacked
Portland U.R) Robert E.
Boyle, 28, principal of a school
at Coos Bay, said Monday he was
stabbed an slashed in a robbery
attempt by a Negro man here.
Boyle said he was returning to
his parked car about 4 a.m. Sun
day when he was grabbed from
behind. He said the assailant said
"this is a holdup." Boyle said he
handed over $30 from his wallet
and then slugged the robber in
the mid-section. The man then
reached in his pocket and came
out with a knife, Boyle said.
Boyle was treated for knife
slashes on one hand and his fore
head and minor stab wounds on
the head and leg.
President Eulogizes

Truman Sunday eulogized James
W. Wadsworth, chairman of the
National Security Training Com
mission, as a "true patriot and
an outstanding public servant."
Wadsworth, former U.S. sena
tor and representative from New
York, died of cancer here Sat
urday night. He was 74.
Mr. Truman said in a state
ment that Wadsworth, who
helped write the draft law in
World Wars I and II, "was a
man to whom the country is
greatly obligated."

IDA PASKE
Funeral services for Ida Olive
Paske, 88, mother of Dr. C. H.
Paske, 1010 South Oakdale ave-
une, who died at a local hospital
Sunday, will be held at the cha
pel in Mountain View cemetery,
Pasaaena, Calif., Thursday. Perl
funeral home has charge of local
arrangements.
Mrs. Paske was born in Win
field, O., on March 10, 1864, and
had been a resident of Medford
for the past nine years. Before
coming to Medford, she and her
late husband made their home at
Altadena, Calif.
Besides her son, she leaves
six grandchildre and 15 great
grandchildren.
NATHAN WEBB
Nathan A. Webb, 82, died Sun
day at his home near Central
Point. Conger - Morris funeral
home is in charge of funeral ar
rangements. ERNEST THERIAULT
Services for Ernest J. Theri
ault, 59, who died June 13 were
held today in Conger - Morris
Chapel, with Father Greene of
ficiating. Committal was in Sis
kiyou Memorial park.
Mr. Theriault was born March
22. 1893, in Houghton, Mich.,
and was a veteran of World War
I. He served as a sergeant in the
33rd Michigan Infantry from
April 1, 1916, until Aug. 14,
1917. when he was discharged
so he could reenlist in the O.T.C.
He served then from Aug. 13
1917. until Feb. 20. 1918, as
a second lieutenant, 337th In
fantry.
He is survived by his mother,
Mrs. Nora Theriault, and a sis
ter, Mrs. Mary Krier, both De
troit; and a brother, John Theri
ault, Rochester, Mich.
MILDRER BONER
Services for . Mildred Boner,
58, who died Saturday, will be
held in Conger-Morris Chapel
Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the
Rev. E. J. Clark officiating. The
remains will be taken to Beaver-
ton, Ore., where graveside serv
ices will be held Thursday at
2 p.m.. D.S.T., with the Rev.
Mr. Schmidt officiating. Commit
tal will be in Crescent Grove
cemetery at Beaverton,
Mrs. Boner was born April
30, 1894, in Kankakee, 111. She
came to Oregon from Nebraska
in 1933, and moved to southern
Oregon from Portland in 1940
She was a member of the Phoe
nix Lady Lions, the Phoenix
Grange, and the Methodist
church. On March 10, 1915, in
Bladen, Neb., she was married
to Arthur M. Boner, who sur
vives.
Other survivors include a son,
Richard A., Portland; two daugh
ters, Mrs. David Galloway, Bea
verton, Ore.; and Mrs. Wayne
R.nepper, Portland; five sisters,
Miss Laura Coon, Lincoln. Neb.
Mrs. Paul Schmelling, Superior,
weD.; Mrs. rtobert Tait, Kanka
kee, 111.; Mrs. Robert McMeekin.
Shelby, Neb.; and Mrs. Alma
Thomas, Beaverton, Ore.; and
five grandchildren.

From Sandpit Cave-In

old Dickey Vondellndy told his
parent. "Darrel and Rodney are
covered with sand."
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Vonde
lindy rushed outside their home
Sunday and found Rodney Jr.,
and a neighbor child, Darrell
Heckman, almost buried in a
sandpit. It took several minutes
of frantic digging to rescue
them.
