Lady Lions To Give
Party on Saturday
Shady Cove Lady Lions of
Shady Cove and Trail are com
pleting plans for a party to
mark closing of the charter. It
will be held Saturday, June 14,
at 8 p. m. in the Grange hall
Eagle Point.
All Lions and their friends
from other towns of the valley
are invited to attend. Men will
be admitted without charge, but
women attending are asked to
take a box lunch for two and a
comic hat. The box lunches will
be sold and men will model the
hats. A grand prize will be
awarded for the funniest hat.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Drum
mond and son, Harry, of Man
hattan Beach, Calif., were
guests last week-end of Mr. and
Mrs. John Roy Simmons and
sons. Mrs. Drummond is the
former Viola Hunt. Medford.
The visitors were enroute to
Portland to visit relatives and
from there will go to Kelso.
Wash., to attend the wedding of
Mrs. Drummond's sister.' Later
the travelers will visit Mr.
Drummond's relatives in Can
ada before returning home.

fund to -send two delegates on
the Youth Pilgrimage to United
Nations headquarters in New
York next month.
Refreshments were served
during intermission, with Mrs.
Paul Thompson and Mrs. Lester
Parker as hostesses. Next session
was scheduled for Saturday
night, June 21.

Fund Drive Held For
A final drive for funds for a
neighborhood mosquito control
spray project has been an
nounced by the committee in
charge.
Some 1,200 acres in the area
surrounding the Table Rock
road Four Corners is to be
sprayed sometime within the
next week by Medford Air serv
ice. The area extends from the
Airport road north to Gibbon
road and from Crater Lake high
way west to Upton road.
Three-Day Measles
Again Tops Diseases
Reported cases of three-day
measles climbed to 23 last. week.
The communcable disease list
issued by the county health de
partment also revealed there
were nine cases in Ashland, two
in Phoenix and one each in Tal
ent and Central Point, a county
total of 36.
Seven cases of influenza, five
in Medford and one each in Tal
ent and Central Point, were also
reported. There were two cases
of German measles and three of
mumps in Medford, two cases of
scarlet fever in Central Point,
and one case of pneumonia in
Ashland.
The disease total was 51 cases.
