Nursery School Closes
Activities for Term;
Mothers Club Meets
The Westside Nursery school
closed the term's activities
Thursday, May 29 when the
teacher, Mrs. Walter Kendall,
took the children to Hawthorne
park for a picnic lunch. Three of
the students, Terry Winetrout,
Stanton Mohr and Charles Tay
lor, will enter the first grade
next fall. Other students are
Judy Frink, Joy Skinner, Terry
Pitts, Kathy Thompson, Mike
Charley, Blitz and Ronny Jones
and Billy Newhall.
. The last meeting of the
Mother's club of the nursery
school was on May 28 at the
home of Mrs. W. Garland Jones,
The new officers who will as
sume their duties next fall are
Mrs. Riley Cook, president; Mrs.
Albert Thompson, secretary
treasurer; and the executive
committee, Mrs. Paul Skinner
and Mrs. Jones.
Retiring officers are Mrs.
Skinner, president, and Mrs.
Sam Taylor, secretary-treasurer.

For Camp Low Echo;
Ask Parents Help
Registration for the first week
at the. Rogue Valley area Girl
Scout camp, Low Echo, is now
open to girls who will be sixth
graders this fall as well as to
those who will be in the fifth
grade, the Girl Scout offices an
nounces. Second week registra
tion li now closed but girl
scouts, non-scouts and girls out
side this area may still register
for the other weeks of the sea.

camp, undertaken each year by

pleting the new infirmary and

pleted in the other units.
The help of parents is needed
badly because of the lateness of
the season, it is reported." Work
has been held up because the
road has just been recently
opened. Families wishing to go
up to help for a week-end may
call the scout office, 2-5912, or
Mrs. Ray Baker, the Medford dis
trict camp coordinator, at 3-3186.
Several families are planning to
give their time this Week-end.

Two Day Camp Sessions
Planned for Girl Scouts
Medford district Girl Scout day camp will operate in two
sessions this year, Monday June 9 through June 12, and from
June 16 to 19. The camp activities are carried on at the day camp
site on Bear creek off Barnett road behind the county shops.
Hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and parents are asked to call for
their girls promptly at the closing of the day's program, the staff
rtates. : : :
. The camp fee will be SO cents
for eight days of camping, or 23
cents per day if a girl does not
sign up for the complete camp
ing session. The scant expenses
for overnight camping will be
prorated and are in addition to
the regular fee. Girls will regis
ter for day camp In their troops,
with their troop leader, but reg
istration will also be taken at the
day camp on the opening day.
Girls attending vacation Bible
school are urged to come to day
camp at noon, and they will be
given creditfor full-time attend
ance. The day camp committee
chairman is Mrs. A. E. Stout, and
the co-directors are Mrs. Stout
and Mrs. Ray Baker'. They will
be assisted by a staff of 18
persons.
The girls will camp in groups
of their own age, designated by
the grade they will be in next
fall. The third grade units will
be led by Mrs. Harold H. Wilson
and Mrs. E. H. Sims, assisted by
Mrs. Oris Gable and Mrs. Jack
James.
The fourth grade units will be
led by Mrs. L. E. Cline, -Mrs.
Hanns Meier and Miss Marilyn
Murphy, assisted by Mrs. Clifton
Friend.
Fifth grade unit leaders will
be Mrs. Fred Graten, Mrs. Mar
vin Grove, and Mrs. Clara Fritz,
assisted by Mrs. Raymond Van
Lieu. Mrs. Raymond Reter and
Mrs. Charles Ely, assisted by
Mrs. Harold W. Hubler, will be
in charge of the sixth grade unit
Seventh graders will be led by
Mrs. O. J. Miller and Mrs.
George Ice. The explorer badge
will be earned by this group,
which includes daily excursions
out of camp.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lever-
ette have made their swimming
pool available for the girl scouts
during the day camp period.
Fifth and sixth grade units will
go swimming, and Lou Cranston
will be life guard.
Mrs. Robert Herriott will be in
charge of first aid and Mrs. Ray
mond Van Lieu is in charge of
arts and crafts. -
Girls should wear slacks or
jeans, shorts or play clothes, but
no sun-backs, and should take a
sweater or jacket. All campers
are requested to wear shoes
every day, because of the broken
glass found in the camping area.
Each girl is to take, her own
