Mrs. John P. Moffat and Mrs.
' C. I. Drummbnd left Friday eve
ning by train from Klamath
Falls to spend a month in the
east arid middle west.
Mrs. Drummond will attend
graduation ceremonies June 9 at
Wellesley college, Wellesley,
Mass., her daughter, Betty, being
! a member of the 1952 class. Miss
Drummond's marriage to Alan
Riegelman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Herbert Riegelman of Shorthill,
N. J., will take place June 11 at
the Episcopal church in Burling-
' ton, Vt. Mr. Riegelman is being
graduated from Dartmouth col-
lege with the 1952 class, and will
be commissioned an oiucer
. the Navy. ; v
Following the wedding, the
couple will travel to the west
coast and Mr. Riegelman will re
port for duty with the Navy at
San Francisco.
Mrs. Moffat will visit her son,
Bill, a graduate student at Har
vard university. Young Moffat is
studying, towards a doctorate in
economics, and does not plan to
return to the west ooast until
after completing his work In the
aummer Of 1953.
The two women plan stops in
Washington, D. C, and New
York and will return home by
way of Detroit to pick up a new
car. En route home they plan
visits in several mid-west cities.
While in Oakland, Calif., en
route east, Mrs. Moffat will
spend a few hours with her son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. -John Moffat Jr., who have
been attending Stanford univer
sity this past year. Later this
year the couple plans to estab
lish a home in Pasadena, Calif.
' Reed To Graduate
Medford Student
Ellis McCurley of Medford
will receive his bachelor of arts
degree from Reed- college at
graduation exercises to be held
at the college Sunday, June 8, a
release from the school states.
Benjamin Kizer, Spokane law
yer and member of the board
: of trustees of the college, will ad
dress Reed 'a 44th annual com
mencement. , The college Is,
awarding B5 bachelor of arts de
grees and 'two master of arts
degrees.
Mr. McCurley, who has ma
jored in physics at Reed, will un
dertake graduate study at the
University of . Wisconsin this
i summer, working towards a doc
torate In physics. The student is
a graduate of the United tlates
Naval academy at Annapolis,
Md., with the class of 1946,
served two years at sea and
holds a reserve commission as
lieutenant, junior grade, in the
Navy.
Mr. McCurley'a mother, Mrs.
Lornia McCurley, route 2, box
407, and his sister, Peggy, plan
to travel to Portland to attend
the commencement ceremonies.
, The student and his wife will re
turn to Medford briefly before
, continuing to Wisconsin for the
summer.

Lodges Plan Reception
For New Grand Master
Lynn Cram, member of the Medford IOOF lodge and newly
elected grand master of the Odd Fellows lodge for Oregon, will
be honored at a reception to be given by the Medford IOOF and
Rebekah lodges Saturday, June 7.
Mr. Cram
who lived in Med.
ford many years, left recently
to live in The Dalles, Ore.
The reception will be held in
Medford Junior High school
auditorium at eight o'clock and
grand officers of both the IOOF
and ' Rebekah assembly from
throughout Oregon are expected
to attend.
Friends of Mr. Cram are also
invited.
Arthur Lenon, past grand
master, Portland, will be master
of ceremonies.
A program of music will be
presented and refreshments
served. The refreshment commit
tee is headed by E. D. Perkins
of the Odd Fellow lodge and Mrs.
A. H. Gregory of Olive Rebekah
lodge.
Mr. Cram is the first grand
master from the ranks of the
Medford lodge since 1896, when
William I. Vawter Sr., held the
office. Mr. Cram, connected with
an insurance firm for many
years, has not only worked In
Medford IOOF lodge but with
table Rock encampment, Canton
Siskiyou of Patriarchs ' Militant
and Olive Rebekah lodge.

Artists Announce
Picture of Month
The Southern Oregon Artists
society "picture-of-t h e-month"
for June is a still life painting
done by Mrs. Ada Andrews of
Gold Hill. The same painting
won third place at the 1951 Jack
sonville jubilee art show.,
The picture, like the others se
lected each month by the society,
will be displayed in the windows
of Barkers Men's store.

Presents Piano Class
In Recital on Tuesday
Piano pupils who are studying
with Miss Margaret Huson were
presented in recital Tuesday,
May 27, at the home of Miss
Huson's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Darell Huson, 45 Lindley street.
Parents and friends attended,
and following the' program re
freshments were served. Mrs.
Claud Hoover and Mrs: H. E,
Nulton assisted in serving. About
30 were present.

Pass at a recent meeting held at
the Josephine County library,
Grants Pass.

gecko. Mrs. Flora Billger, presi
dent of Rogue River auxiliary,
United Spanish War Veterans,

Gives Winning Drill
For Scottish Groups
Medford bethel of Job's Daugh
ters entertained the Scottish Rite
Masons and their wives Monday
evening, at the Masonic temple.
The Job's Daughters team, in
precision floor work, presented
the drill which won them second
place in the recent grand session
of International Order Job's
Daughters.
During the coffee hour the
Scottish Rite' men joined the
women and bethel members.
Baskets of violas decorated the
refreshment tables. Individual
decorations marked each place
for the drill team.
Hostesses fdr the evening were
Mrs. Ira D. Canfield, Mrs.
George Thomas and Mrs. Ralph
Krows.
The next meeting, a business
session, will be June 9, at 8 p.m.
at the temple.
