Cast Announced
For Coming Play
Of Footlighters
The leading role in the Foot
lighters' forthcoming production
of "Suspect" is to be played by
Lenore Zapell, prominent mem
ber of the little theater group,
according to Jerome McDougall,
director. The play will be pre
sented June 24 through 28 at the
Footlighters' new theater on the
Fairgrounds.
Others in the cast of the three
act suspense drama are Robert
Corliss, Frank Buchter, Ruth
Kilbourn David Whisenant
Jerre Cleek, Cora McMahan and
Dick Kline.
The authors of the play, Ed
ward Percy and Reginald Den
ham, have chosen an English
country house as the setting for
their story of a woman whose
tragic past rises to endanger her
security and the future happi
ness of her son and his fiancee.
Stage Manager Bernard Rob
erts will be assisted in the tech
nical details of production by
Robert Roberts and other mem
bers of the organization.
Chapter AA of the P.E.O. Sis
terhood will meet for 1 o'clock
luncheon Wednesday, May 28, at
the home of Mrs. Dolph Phlpps.
Mrs. L. A. Mentzer and Mrs. R.
B. Hammond will assist the
hostess.

Two Guilds Give
Annual Rose Tea
Sunday at Church
Members of the two Wesleyan
Service guilds of First Methodist
church were hostesses for the
annual Rose Tea in the church
parlors last Sunday afternoon.
This is an annual event honor
ing "secret pals" of guild mem
bers.
A large number of the "pals,"
for the most part elderly mem'
bers of the church, were able
to be present, and favors were
sent to the shut-in's.
The room was festive with
many spring flowers. The tea
table was centered with a per
fumed fountain in the midst of
pink roses and pink candles.
Miss Marjone Sandfort, presi
dent of Susannah guild, and Mrs.
C. R, Adamson, president of Ruth
Esther guild, poured.
Mrs. S. H. Gay gave devotions
on "Prayer." Piano duets were
given by Mrs. Horace Doolen and
her daughter- Zua Donna, and
accordion duets by Marilyn and
Donna Lou Barker. Donna Lou
Pfnister sang soprano solos and
Richard Dickenson gave a read
ing.
Introduced as "secret pals'
were Mrs. W. E. Beelby, Mrs.
Cora Carder, Mrs. Lilly Conklin.
Mrs. D. C. Dimmett, Mrs. Flor

To Elect Officers
At Annual Session
Medford League of Women
Voters will elect officers during
the annual meeting at Rogue
Valley Country club Saturday
May 31 at 12:30 p.m. This will
be a luncheon meeting.
William McAllister will ad
dress the group, using as his
subject the national presidential
convention. He will explain how
delegates to the convention nomi
nate a presidential candidate.
Mrs. Donovan Foster, league
vice-president-elect, will report
on the convention of the national
league held last month in Cin
cinnati, O. She was one of the
five Oregon delegates to the convention.
Anyone interested in the
league is invited to attend. Res
ervations for the luncheon may

Central Point Mothers
To Meet on Wednesday
Central Point Officers for
the coming term were elected at
a meeting of Mt. Pitt Rebekah
lodge held Wednesday evening,
Mrs. Ernest Lowry, noble grand,
presided.
The new officers are Mrs. Del
bert Mongold, noble grand; Mrs
John Kime, vice-grand; Mrs.
Gerald Kime, recording secre
tary and Mrs. Ernest Taylor,
treasurer. Practice for initiation
is to be held May 29 at 7:30
p.m. with all members to' attend.
Mrs. Lowry announced that
she wil honor FL club members
at her home on Wednesday, May
28. The FL club presented the
lodge with two dishpans for the
kitchens.
A game was played with win
ners being Mrs. Mary Moore,
Mrs. George Vincent, Mrs. Rob
ert Pfaff, Mrs. John Foster and
Mrs. Lowry. Refreshments were
served by Mrs. Vincent, Mrs.
William Stratton and Mrs. An
drew Glenn.
Birthday night will be cele
brated at the next meeting on
June 4, honoring members with
birthdays In April, May and
June. Refreshment committee
will be Mrs. Taylor, Mrs. M.
Weidman, Mrs. Al Trautman
and Mrs. Mongold.

Miss Judy Briggs, Ashland, (above) officially will be declared
queen tor the 10th Annual Rogue Rivei roundup during cere
monies Saturday evening. May 31 at the Jackson County Mounted
Sheriff's posse grounds arena. At the same time Miss Mary Lou
Larson, (left) and Miss Shirley Nelson, (right) will be declared
the princess for the June 14-15 event. The three young women
were judged for their riding ability. Miss Briggs numerous times
has shown her trained Arabian horse at shows and Miss Larson
and Miss Nelson both are Junior posse members. Miss Larson is an
executive officer and a past captain. The public is invited to the
ceremony to be held at 7:30 p. m. and also to a buckaroo dinner
at 6:30 p. m. at the clubhouse. A dance, also open to those who
attend the events, will be held in the clubhouse later that evening,
