rest for a day or two and reas
onable isolation of the patient to
prevent spread of the infection if
it is an Infection, there is moder
ate fever and the fever is a
good sign, and indication that
the patient is reacting in the nor
mal way to fend off the invas
ion. If there Is no fever, no evi
dent rise in body temperature,
the patient just isn't reacting to
the invasion. For example, sore
throat in a child, with little or no
evident fever, Is more likely to
be diphtheria, and pneumonia
in an aged or infirm person or
an alcoholic is a greater hazard
than In a vigorous person in
the enfeebled patient there is
