Mlddleton
Do you know anybody who
is the seventh child of a seventh
child? Is he or she unusually
lucky? Mrs. Lilian Guest, the
Englishwoman who recently
won several British football
pools, including one worth
$200,000 (tax free), Is a seventh
child of a seventh child. Mrs.
Guest says she has been lucky
all her life. Including being
lucky in love.
Briefly
One of the best slogan's in
the history of entertainment is
Sophie Tucker'a, "The Last of
the Red Hot Mamas." She ac
quired this qlogan when she in
troduced a song by Jack Yel
len, titled, "I'm the Last of the
Red Hot Mamas" ... The Hol
lywood record for number of
offspring is eight, held by Mau
reen O'Sullivan. However, this
record is in danger. Ave Gard
ner (Mrs. Frank Sinatra) recen
tly observed: "I want lots of
children. I have always wanted
to emulate my grandmother who
had nineteen children."
Ageleia Baauiy
Do yo uremember that beauti
ful, agile and shapely musical
chow actress, Dorothy Dick
ion? She was Carl Hyson'i dan
cing partner. Dorothy, original
ly from Kansas City, Mo., has
lived in London for many years.
She is now 54 years old, but re
ported still beautiful and shape
ly. Still has her school girl fig
ure, waist, 25 inches; hips 34
inches. Said Miss Dickson re
cently: "Seems I am ageless.
Age is something that happens
to other people, not to me. I
don't diet. But then I don't ov
ereat. People who get stodgy
figures have stodgy brains."
Fishing
There are about 15,000,000
fishing enthusiasts in the U. S.
A. So it you can think of some
thing different to sell to fisher
men your fortune is made. There
is much talk of luck in fishing.
This brings to mind the obser
vation of the late Confucius:
"The more you know the more
luck you will have." The fel
lows who catch the most fish are
not lucky. They know how to
fish. Selection of bait is of ma
jor importance. A fellow up in
Maine spent several years study
ing fish with a view toward find
ing something in the way of food
they couldn't resist. He finally
did, now he is a very weathly
man.
Sidelights
Now women are being given
a saliva test. That is, women
who are expectant. It is claimed
this test can predict the sex of
the expected child. . . . "So some
character, picking an all-time,
team of Irish birth or descent
major leaguers, has Bresnahan
for catcher," writes a Chicagoan
named Dalon. "The man's ig
norant. Didn't he ever hear of
Jimmy Archer, of the Chicago
Cubs, who was born in Dublin?
Bresnahan couldn't carry Jim
my's glove."
