Date on Thursday
Vancouver , Wash. (U.R)
Clark County Superior Court
Judge Eugene G. Cushing will
set a new date Thursday for ex

who presided at their trial al
most two years ago, set dates for
their double hanging.
Writ ef Havlew Refused
An order to send the two men
here was signed Monday after
the U. S. Supreme court had re
fused to honor a petition for a
writ of review of the Wilson's

Layne. 23, shot the first tell
ing punch of the fight in the first
round with a crunching left that
slammed the 29-year-old Seattle
fighter against the ropes. But
Matthews rallied and never was
in trouble again.
He repeatedly jolted Layne
with a short jab which had him
visibly tired after the fourth
round.
Appeared Tired
The Utah slugger regained
some strength in the ninth and
when ' Matthews became over
eager, caught the Seattle ring'
ster with several punishing
blows,
Matthews quickly recovered
however and Layne found him
self on the end of a knee-buck'
ling right near the end of the
round.
The final round was a slug-
fest all the way with both fight
ers trading punches until the
final bell.
Better Than Marciano
When newsmen talked o
Layne in his dressing room
after the fray, he said, "Mat
thews is a better fighter than
Marciano. He is clever and hits
about as hard as Marciano, but
Ezzard Charles is the best I've
ever met in the ring."
"Matthew s left was so fast I
couldn't get out of the way of
it, Layne said.

So They Say
Aries (March 21-April 20)
women are usually very intelli
gent, smart lookers and have
good taste in dress, interior deco
ration, etc. However, it takes a
husband of strong character to
hold his rightful position as head
of the household if he has an
Aries wife. Women of that sign
are inclined to be dominating.
They also have a desire to make
a man over, to mould him into
their idea of what a husband
should be. Aries women are great
party givers. Their object is not
so much to entertain as to show
off their possessions. They do
not approve of a husband having
a night out by himself. They
fancy themselves as child rear
ing experts and resent any inter
ference by the husband in that
department. They like to flirt a
little but will not tolerate any
thing like that on the part of
their husbands. Most Aries wom
en marry more than once, or so
say the stargazers. (Note Mary
Pickford. Gloria Swanson and
Bette Davis are Aries-born.)
Asking
Queries from clients. Q. What
is the meaning of "eighty-six"
as called out by bartenders and
fountain lunch attendants? A.
Seems to have various meanings
in different sections. Most com
mon meaning is that the place
has run out of what has been
ordered. In bars it sometimes
means not to serve a certain cus
tomer any more liquor. Q. Did
John Barrymore ever appear in a
musical show and do a song and
dance in same? A. Yes, sir. In the
show titled "A Stubborn Cinder
ella," John Barrymore did a song
and dance. The feminine star was
Sallie Fisher.
Intelligence
Intelligence and knowledge
are often confused. Many edu
cated men are not very intelli
gent. We all know stupid college
graduates. Intelligence is the
ability to get the most out of
what you know. As a class the
most Intelligent men are the me
chanics. Please Not
If you can't figure out an In

thoughts to originating a way to
make it possible to sell a popular
product at a lower price than is
now the practice? That is, of
course, what Henry Ford did. A
more recent example is a man
who originated a method of mak
ing a harmonica so it could be
sold for a price much less than
that charged by other manufac
turers. This man has become a
