Awarded at Charter
Dinner Wednesday
Boy Scout Troop 8 held its an
nual charter dinner April 29 at
6t. Mark's Episcopal Guild hall
For the first time in the history
of the troop, all Scout awards
from Tenderfoot to Eagle, the
highest scouting award, were
conferred during the one evening.
Mike DeVore, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ron DeVore, became an
Eagle scout during the court of
honor. The rank of Life scout
was conferred on Roy Doe and
Harold Ashton and Dick Swin-
ney and Wayne Breeze became
Star scouts.
The rank of First Class scout
was conferred on Bob Glover,
and four boys, Bob Taylor, Doug
Randies, Jerry Swartsley and
John Reeder became Second
Class scouts. Charles Rown, Pat
Connolly, Delbert Harvey, Mike
Bauer and Bruce Bromley were
given their Tenderfoot rank.

Guests were Clifford Hanson,
scout executive, and Mrs. Han-
son; Col. W. H. Paine, council
historian, Mrs. Winnifred Vail,
the Rev. and Mrs. George R. V.
Bolster. John Eddy, district com-
missioner, and Mrs. Eddy, John
Patton, chairman of Big Pines
district, and Mrs. Patton.
The Rev. Mr. Bolster, rector
of St. Mark's church, sponsoring
group for the troop, gave the in
vocation and C. A. Stothers,
scoutmaster, introduced guests.

conducted the Tenderfoot inves
titure, End members of the troop
committee, including J. A. Mc-
Dougall, Elwood Hedberg, Joy
Swartsley, Ron DeVore, Harry
Barneburg, Vincent Swinney,
Robert Bromley, Ben Ashton
and Bob Stothers, conducted the
court of honor.

sentative, conducted the Eagle
court and John Eddy presented
the charter. Ed Glover and
Frank Clark are assistant scoutmasters.
