venture as Mrs, Langhoff has
been very 111 and the climate
apparently Is not good for her
Mr. Langhoff la taking her to
the Camas Hot Springs in Mon
tana hoping she will be cured
The new owners and operators
of the Shady Cove Garage are
James Hopkins and Raymond
Staggers, both of Medford, Hop
kins was formerly with the
Chrysler Corporation In Medford
and Staggers was employed by
Jackson County. Both are mar
ried, have families and plan to
live in this area as soon as con
veniently possible.
Bill Shepherd of Shady Cove
made a trip to Portland over the
last week-end.
Mrs. Herbert Hcssler of New
berg spent a week visiting Mrs
Florence Mason of Shady Cove,
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson of
Pasadena, Calif., who have pur
chased the former Oxlander res-1
dence next to the Adolf Larson
in Shady Cove spent a few days
here last week. They plan to
come to Shady Cove sometime in
June,
Mrs. Dave Allen of Shady
Cove went to Eugene to visit the
school for handicapped children
where she plans to place her
small son, Roger Allen for while,
Everett Cushman of Trail was
confined to Sacred Heart hos
pital several days last week for
treatment of back Injuries.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Segessen-
man and dnughter, Mary of
Shady Cove, spent last week-end
In Coos Bay visiting friends,
among them Mr. and Mrs. Clyde
Collier, Mrs. Edna Rourke, and
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Henton. The
Segessenmans lived In Coos Bay
years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klndschl of
Trail returned last Saturday
from San Dlcgo and southern
California. They also made
trip to Gonzales, Mcx.
Newcomers to Shady Cove are
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rush and
son, Jimmy from Twin Falls
Idaho. They are living In the
Frank Cook house and Rush is
employed by Rene Espourtlelle
Mrs. Dale Sawyer of Shady
Cove made a trip to Springfield
this past week-end when she at
tended the Royal Open Council
of the Ladybug.i. Mrs. Sawyer Is
royal hospital director. She made
the trip from Medford with Fre
da Lawrence, Mary DeBerry and
Vera Myers.

living for about a year, and has
sold part of his property to Mrs.

Mrs. Ben Anderson and Mrs.
Ida J. McKeen of Jacksonville

were recent visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. McKeen
of Shadv Cove. Mrs. Anderson
s Mr. McKeen's mother and Mrs.
McKeen his sister-in-law.
Master Sgt. and Mrs. Frank
Selto and family have been trans
ferred from Ft. Lawton, Wash.,
to Salt Lake City where he will
teach in the R.O.T.C. training
school. Mrs. Selto is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hub
bell of Trail.
New comers to Trail are Mr.
and Mrs. Marshall Craven from
Los Angeles. They have bought
the Lillywhtte residence next to
Sunset-on-the-Rogue. He has been
here for sometime but Mrs.
Cravens remained In California
due to illness and has just recent
ly Joined her husband.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kig of
Shady Cove have just received
word from their son in Korea
that he Is in the hospital and
expects to undergo a kidney op
eration soon.
Lieut, and Mrs. Dave Pruess
and family of Portland visited
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Long of Shady
Cove recently on a brief stop
over before going on to Yuma,
Ariz. Lt. Pruess has been trans
ferred to the Air Base there.
Mrs. Pruess is the daughter of
Mrs. Roy Long.
Mr. and Mrs. E. D. House of
Shady Cove are parents- of a
baby girl born April 15 at Com
munity hospital in Medford. The
baby, named Susan Lynette, is
the couple s third child and first
girl. Paternal grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ferris of Bend
and maternal grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Wing of
Klamath Falls.
Shady Cove Grange No. 931
will have a card party on May
3 at 8 p.m, at the Reese Creek
schoolhouse. This party will be
for Grangers and friends of
Grangers who are cordially in
vited. The annual Shady 'Cove PTA
play will be presented in the
Shady Cove schoolhouse gym
Saturday evening, May 3. Two
one-act plays "What's in a Name"
and "Annie's Man" will be given
with a number of good variety
and novelty numbers between
acts. PTA members in the cast
are Mrs. Robert Holcomb, Mrs.
Cartee Wood, Mrs. D e lb e r t
Spain, Mrs. Arley Spain, Mrs.
Bob Bishop, Mrs. Jerry Hicks
and Mrs. Carroll Watson. The
Eagle Point high school band
will play under direction of Mr.
Whipple.
, Gerald Willson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Owen Willson of Shady
Cove, is home on a 30-day leave
from Japan where he has been
stationed for over a year. He
will be reassigned to duty in the
States on completion of his leave.
Also visiting the Willson's are
their daughter and family, Mr.

Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower had
polled 907 votes to 235 for Gov.
Earl Warren of California, who
ran second.
Other totals included Sen. Rob

E. Stassen 85, Gen. Douglas Mac
Arthur 3, and Sen. Wayne Morse
126.

determine delegates to a mock
Republican convention at Wil
lamette university May 9-10.
