In this important presidential election
yar, women in all parts of the nation are
tL .ling their attention to politics. Jackson
county not only has many women active in
politics, but this year the county central com
mittees of the two major parties are headed
by women.
Mrs. Curtis I, Hopkins (below) is chair
man of the Republican Central committee and
is also a candidate for delegate to the na
tional Republican convention from the fourth
congressional district. Mrs. Hopkins spends al
most every day on party work and conse
quently finds the family automobile indis
pensable. Mrs. Edward C. Kelly (lower left) Is equal
ly busy as chairman of the Democratic Cen
tral committee. Mrs. Kelly says she spends at
least half of every day at the telephone, and
finds the corner telephone stand a comfort
able spot to sit while carrying on her conver
