Ida Lupino Duff Bears
Tiny Baby Wednesday
Hollywood (U.R) Screen
star Ida Lupino gave birth pre
maturely to a 4-pound, 3-ounce
daughter Wednesday night at
Temple hospital.
Miss Lupino, wife of screen
actor Howard Duff, was reported
in good condition. The baby,
named Bridget, was placed in an
incubator and also was reported
in good condition.

dramatic movie actresses, yawn

tation makes
her sound "in

an Oscar at
home and an

Aline Mosby nomination to
brag about. But this accolade to
her histrionic abilities, she an
nounces, has kept her sex appeal
in shackles.
So she's turned blonde,
slimmed down her hips and
snared a role in a movie in which
she does an Egyptian belly dance
while wearing a topaz in her
navel.
I've been presented ns ter
ribly nice, a good actress, wife
and mother," she sighed. "This
is wonderful but it's not inter
esting, is it? That's not what ac
tresses are supposed to be.
"I'm no holier-than-thou. I'm
not Gree-ah Gannon. But the way
I've been presented, I'd be bored
with myself if I really were that
way. I wouldn't even invite me
to dinner. '
The picture, she went on; "Is
hatching me."

"Oh, we do all sorts of un

now I can put them on the screen

censors won't mind, either. With
me, they'll just say, what great

Miss Baxter is so intent upon
playing a glamour girl that she's
even boned up on how to talk
like one to the press. Ann did
a little home work, typed out
what she wanted to say In our
interview and brought three
pages of notes along.
Afraid Before
"I've been afraid to do this
before," the shapely star ex
plained, "for fear reporters
would think I was silly."
? According to Ann's thesis on
glamour, as she read it, "men
have more glamour than women.
. . . In a woman, glamour Is like
a mint julep to a parched man
on a hot day with a ticket on the
derby winner. . . ."
She beamed, "I like that
phrase, don't you?"
"My grandfather, Frank Lloyd
Wright, the architect," she add
ea, wore only a red sasn on
his wedding night. That's
glamour."
miss Baxter hopes this new
