Hold Annual Installation
Joint installation of officeri wa held Tuesday evening by
Crater Lake post and auxiliary ol the Veterans of Foreign Wars
In VFW hall.
Mrs. Fred Lawrence, past
president of the auxiliary, scrv-1
ed as auxiliary installing officer.
Mrs. Nora Walters was installed
president with Mrs. Vera Meyers
and Mrs. Warren Fichtner senior
and junior vice-presidents. Mrs.
Ivan Lusk is the new chaplain;
Mrs. Albert Hall, conductress;
Mrs. Russell Zundell, treasurer;
and Mrs. Etha Wall, secretary.
Mrs. Katherine Trude is guard
and Mrs. Merrill Beneka, a
three-year trustee.
Other officers include Mrs.
B. B. Ramsey, assistant conduct
ress; Mrs. Fred Lawrence, assist
ant treasurer; Mrs. J. E. Schus
ter, patriotic Instructor; Mrs. E.
G. Heim, historian.
Mrs. A. C. O'Toole, Mrs. Rus
sell Roach, Mrs. Richard Schulz
and Mrs. O. O. DeBerry are color
bearers.
Assisting the installing officer

Laurene Kell and Phyllis

Mrs. Pat Turner.
The retiring president, Mrs.
Beneka, was given a past presi
dent's pin by Mrs. Lusk. Mrs.
Richard Schulz .was honored
with the presentation of a 20
year Din which Mrs. Beneka
oresented.

Mr. Beneka presented the re
tiring commander, Floyd Cart
wright, a past president's pin.
In return Mr. Cartwright gave
Mr. Beneka a life membership
card. The past commander and
Mr. Smith presented Mrs.
Beneka and the new auxiliary
president, Mrs. Walter, potted
azaleas.
Refreshments were served by
Mrs. Cartwright, chairman, and
Mrs. V. J. David, Mrs. Kather
ine Trude, Mrs. J. V. Tiede and
Mrs. Beneka.

City Attorney L. M. Mullens to
prosecute a case in court.
"I'll be there as soon as I can
find a baby-sitter for my eight-
month-old twins, Mullens said.
The problem was solved when
the mayor sent Patrolman
Claude Brummitt, who has four
children, to baby-sit.

Valley Delegates
At Presbyterial
Held in Coos Bay
Several valley Presbyterian
women participated in a South
west Oregon Presbyterial at
Coos Bay Thursday and Friday.
Twenty-two women from this
area attended and chartered a
bus for the trip.
Mrs. Roy Martin, Jacksonville,
was re-elected treasurer of the
Presbyterial. She has held the
office for a number of years.
Mrs. Edwin Dusenberry, Med
ford, also was re-elected to the
office she has Held, that of cor
responding secretary. Miss Eliz
abeth Burr, Medford, is contin
uing with the duties of the sec
retary for missionary letters.
Miss Burr has held the office
for some time and declined elec
tion again this year though she
is continuing with the work un
til replaced.
Mrs. Otto Niedcrmeyer, Jack
sonville, is the retiring president.
She also held her office for sev
eral years. Mrs. M. B. Winslow,
Coos Bay, is the new president.
Mrs. J. R. Sides, president of
the Women's associtaion of the
Medford Presbyterian church,
was a member of the finding
committee during the meet and
gave a report at the closing ses
sion. Main speaker for the Presby
terial was Miss Dorothy Wagner,
San Francisco, district secretary
for the board of Presbyterian
foreign missions. Her subject
was "Tragedies and Triumphs of
Korea." Miss Wagner served in
the foreign mission field in
China until forced to leave
when the Communists took over.
Delegates from here described
her talk as "outstanding." An
other speaker was the new Syn
odicnl president, Mrs. A. B. Cut
ler, Portland, whose topic was,
'Wanted People."
Miss Burr opened the two-day
program by leading devotlonals.

tion was from Ashland.

Rogue River Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Niquette have pur
chased the grocery store from
Mr. and Mrs. Hopper. The Hop
pers will become owners of the
Niquette home on West Evans
creek.
Mrs. Don Brady and son Pat
rick spent several days last week
visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Scott. Saturday, Mr. and
Mrs. Scott took them home to
Coos Bay, returning home Sun
day. Their son Neil Thompson
came from Coos Bay and has
purchased a barber shop in
Glendale.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Young who
recently purchased the Simmons
place on Cedar street have been
remodeling the house. Ihey
came from Myrtle Point.
"James Whipple and Lee Miller
are busy these days at their mine
on Sardine creek.
Mr. and Mrs. Berry returned
to their home in California Sun
day after spending several weeks
in Rogue River. While here he
helped his brother-in-law, Earl
Green build a new house on
Cedar street.
Rev. and Mrs. J. J. Rutz of
Bandnn were overnight visitors
at the Earl Young home.
R. C. Cummings and wife of
Keno were overnight visitors
Monday with Mrs. Cummings
mother Mrs. Mae Shultz. On
Tuesday night Mrs. Shultz' son
"Bud" of Midland visited her.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bcal of
Watsonvillc, Calif., friends of
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Young spent
Tuesday with them. They had
not seen each other for 15 years.

Carter ranch on Evans Creek
road were Mrs. Carter's daugh
ter, Mrs. Charles Moore and fam
ily of Creswell and Mr. and Mrs.
Clinton Wiley and son Jimmy of
McCloud, Calif, visited Clinton's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. James
Wiley and sister Mrs. Reed
Carter.

Thursday by train for Snnta
Monica, Calif, to visit 10 days
