For Luncheon Club
Friday Luncheon club will

street. Dessert will be served at
12:30 o'clock.
Court To Meet
A staled meeting of Roxy Ann
court, Order of Amaranth, will
be held Thursday, April 17 at 8
p.m. at the Medford Masonic
temple. Officers are asked to be
present at 8:30 for practice be
fore the meeting.

Children's Show
Set for Friday at
Methodist Church
Theme of the annual children's
spring fashion parade, to be giv
en Friday, April 18, in the recre
ation room of First Methodist
Church will be Hawthorne play
ground park. The show, set for
7 p.m., is sponsored by Circles 6,
7 and 10 of the church.
Setting for the show will be a
playground scene and the chil
dren will model in groups, pan
tomiming various scenes. The
scenes will include a picnic
group, a fishing scene, the sand
pile set, a Sunday school scene,
both boy and girl baby sitters, a
nursemaid skit and a mother
daughter scene.
The planning committee Is
headed by the chairman of the
three circles, Mrs. Charles Lieb
brand, Mrs. G. A. Dierdorff and
Mrs. Byron Griffith. Mrs. Rob
ert Duncan and Mrs. Arthur
Cook are writing the script, and
the decorating committee will
be Mrs. Jennie Lawless, Mrs.
Lyle Schoppert and Mrs. F. K.
Waters. Mrs. Horace Doolen is
music chairman and Mrs. John
Kent is chairman of ticket sales.
Admission will be charged,
and refreshments served.

Benefit Concert
Of Music Society
To Include Quartet
Adding to the program to be
given by Medford Musical so
ciety April 22 will be a string
quartet from Eugene. The quar
tet will play with Doris Helen
Calkins, harpist, one of two tea
turcd soloists for the evening.
Members of the quartet are
Mollie Small Hardin and Con
stance Elkins, violinists; Gwen
dolen Lamphire Haydcn, viola,
and Roberta Lathrop, cellist.

plished musicians and In add!

Her children's boks, a series of
"Really Truly" stories, are well
known and she -recently publish
ed a book for adults, "From
Football Field to Mission Field.
The quartet has made many
appearances with Mrs. Calkins,
considered one of the coast s fin
est harp players.
The second artist on the pro
gram is Josephine Spaulding,
mezzo-soprano, Portland.
Proceeds from the concert,
which will be given at Medford
Senior High school auditorium,
will be used for the society's
scholarship fund.

A large delegation of members
from Medford bethel, Job's
Daughters, will leave Thursday
for Roseburg to attcid Oregon's
28th annual grand guardian
council meeting to be held there

Medford Couple Home
After Stay in Salem;
Attend Group Reunion
Mr. and Mrs. Phil Brainerd
have returned to their home on
East Main street after spending
a week in Portland and Salem.
After spending the early part of
the week in Portland, the Brain
erds returned to Salem where
they were guests of Mrs. Brain
erd's brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. George Swartsley,
and her mother, Mrs. R. W.
Swartsley.
While in Salem they attended
a reunion of a group of north
west residents who made a tour
of the Hawaiian islands In Jan
uary. The group first assembled
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Max Rogers and then later were
at the American Legion club for
dinner. After dinner the group
went to the home of Dr. and
Mrs. A. D. Woodmansee where
Mr. Brainerd and Dr. Woodman-
see showed pictures which they
took on the tour.

Special Program
For May Luncheon
For the anual May Fellowship
luncheon, sponsored by Med
ford Council of Church Women,
a program of special interest Is
being prepared by a committee
under the leadership of Mrs.
Owen Kunkel, chairman.
Theme for the day is "Spirit
ual Security For Today's Fam
ilies and the program will em
phasize the importance of proper
child development with great
stress being made regarding
Christian Influence in the home.
Mrs. Kirkland West will be the
afternoon's speaker.
Luncheon will be served in
the dining room of First Presby
terian church at 12:30 p.m., Fri
day, May 2, with hostesses from
the several affiliated churches
assisting at the tables.
Since the Council May Fellow
ship luncheon is an outstanding
event each year, it is anticipated
that the attendance will be very
large and those planning to at
tend are being reminded to se
cure tickets from presidents of
church women's organizations
at an early date.
Mrs. Ivan Gay has been chos
en to arrange and prepare the
programs for the luncheon and
Mrs. Lyle Sams will, supervise
table arrangements.

Dance studio will present the
first two of a series of spring
dance recitals Thursday and Fri
day, April 17 and 18, at the Cra-

Mineral Club Plans
Field Trip Sunday
Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral
club announces a field trip
Sunday, April 20. Those wishing
to make the trip are asked to
meet at the bridge in Eagle
Point at 9:30 a.m. and all are
asked to take lunches and
water.
Plans for the trip were made
at the April meeting of the club.
