to cost about $1,000,000,000.
The new plant will be a uran
ium separation works even

Convention Committee
Planning Entertainment
Members of the tourist and
convention committee of the
Jackson County Chamber of
Commerce discussed final plans
for entertaining the first two
conventions of the 1952 season
scheduled the latter part of this
month at a meeting last week,
Chairman Jimmy Dunlevy re
ported Saturday.
The state convention of Active
clubs will hold a two-day ses
sion in Medford April 26 and
27, Dunlevy said, with some 200
delegates and their wives.
On April 27, 28 and 29 the
Northwest Conference of Mu
sicians, with delegates from 49
local unions in Oregon, Washing
ton, Idaho and parts of Canada
will add a total of approximately
200 more visitors.
Removal of Leaves
From Flowers Urged
Berkeley, Calif. (U.R) Cut
flowers will last longer if as
many leaves as possible have
been removed.
Home Advisers at the Univer
sity of California agricultural ex
tension service point out that
flowers lose moisture rapidly
through the leaves after they
have been picked.
They suggest that removal of
the leaves will eliminate some of
the surfaces where evaporatlonstorage temperature low and
can take place.
Add other greens to replace
the ones removed, the home ad
visers suggested.
Another method for slowing
evaporation from leaves and cut
flower stems is by keeping the
humid.
Sometimes cut flowers which
have wilted can be revived by
setting the container on a cool
porch oveuiight, or in the re
frigerator with a temperature of
40 degrees.
