ommended Thursday that West
ern European nations receive
further U. S. aid only if they
make greater progress toward
unity and strengthening them
selves.
Allies Criticised
In a report on a European in
spection trip late last year, the
subcommittee severely criti
cized America's European al
lies, especially Britain.
The subcommittee criticized
"Britain for remaniing an "ob
server" and refusing to become
"a participating member of the
European Federation." It said
the British argument that join
ing a European union might ad
versely affect the commonwealth
relationship "appears to have lit
tle merit"
Influence Questioned
The subcommittee also ques
tioned whether "British influ
ence in the development of Unit
ed States foreign policy has
caused the loss of valuable allies
in Europe and the Far East."
It criticized Britain for "not
enthusiastically supporting the
United Nation's efforts in Ko
rea" and for failure to clamp
down on trade with Communist
countries. .

lar monthly meeting of the Jack
son County Motor Court asso
ciation at Rogue Valley Country
club yesterday and explained
the revaluation program in the
county.

Chamber of Commerce tourist
and convention committee in its
move to provide signs better

Pilot Will Attempt
Record for Gliders
Ephrata. Wash. U.R) A
young Air Force captain said
Thursday he will attempt a new
world's record this summer for
endurance gliding.
Capt. Earl Drew, a weather
officer at Larson Air Force base
and a veteran of 2,500 flying
hours, said he hoped to stay aloft
In his second-hand sail plane for
mora than 52 hours the record
for a two-place glider.
. Drew hopes to attempt the
goal in July or August over
Wenatchee and the Columbia
Basin area. He considers the
area one of the best on the con
tinent for sail plane flight be
cause of air currents from the
mountains and the strong air
bubbles which rise from the hot
surface of the earth.
