Mr. McKay attended Roseburg
schools and both Oregon State
college and the University of
Oregon. He was for a time with
radio station KORE in Eugene
and is now a stockholder with
KRXL in Roseburg, and is pro
gram director.

Sends Box to Korea
A box to be sent to Korea
was packed at the meeting of
Rogue chapter f Grandmothers
club, Thursday.
The youngest grandmother,
Mrs. Fay Hall;, the oldest, Mrs.
H. G. Wilson; the one with the
most grandchildren, Mrs. John
Hubler, and one great-grand
mother, Mrs. ; P. Sledd, -were
honored.
Refreshments were served by
the March committee, Mrs. Hall,
Mrs. George Culy and Mrs. H,
Eklund.

Held at Methodist Church
One of early spring's largest weddings was that of Miss Joan
Anderson to Ned Starnes which took place Sunday, March 23,
at First Methodist church. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Elroy Anderson, 414 Union street, Medford, and the bride
groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Z Starnes, Ashland.

Ralph Matlack sang.
Arrangements of daffodils and
ivy, iris and stock decorated the
church.
The bride's gown was of silk
chiffon and lace designed with
train, and her veil was held by
a tiara of seed pearls.
Her pearl necklace was the
bridegrooms gift, and she car
ried red roses with gardenias.
She was given in marriage by
her father.
Miss Carol Davis, maid-of-
honor, wore a gown of aqua net
over taffeta with picture hat to
match. Her flowers were sweet
peas and carnations dyed to
match her gown. Bridesmaids
were Miss Delores Davis, Miss
Gale Shadley, cousin of the
bride, Miss Vida Childers, Miss
Colleen Willson and Mrs. Mark
McKenzie, sister of the bride
groom. Their gowns were of pas
tel colored taffeta worn with
matching picture hats. Miss
Davis wore yellow, Miss Shadley
and Mrs. McKenzie pink, Miss
Childers and Miss Willson or
chid. All carried sweet peas with
daisies matching their gowns.
Theresa Thomas, cousin of the
bride, and Dolly Green were
flower girls, the former wearing
a blue frock and the latter
pink. Misses Lorraine Morse and
Janice Stanford, wearing orchild
colored frocks, lighted the can
dles from tapers set in flowers.
Wade Thomas, cousin of the
bride was ring-bearer. , ' .
Mark McKenzie was best man
for his brother-in-law and ush
ers were Don Robertson, Alex
ander Austin, Robert Levison,
Wendall Jones, Bart OKeefe
and Paul Resler. all fellow stu
dents of the bridegroom from
Oregon State college, and his
two brothers, Fred and Walter
Starnes.
More than 200 guests attended
the reception. Mrs. Clarence
Coulter and Mrs. Mirl Morse
poured and Misses Donna Lee
book. Pupils of Mrs. Prentice
played and sang during the re
ception. For the wedding and recep
tion the bride's mother wore
a navy blue dress with corsage
of pink rosebuds and the bride
groom's mother wore a green
dress with pink rosebud corsage.
Among the wedding guests
were the bride's grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. James O. Watts
of Bly, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs.
Otto Schrader. Others coming
from a distance for the wedding
were the bride's uncle and aunt,
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Schrader
of Redding, Calif., her cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. Don Hammon and
daughter, Cheryl, Redding, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Town and children,
Chico, Calif., and the bride
groom's brother-in-law, Marion
Mann and daughter, Judy, Boise,
Ida.
The bride, who was graduated
from Medford High school, is
now a bookkeeper for Surge
Dairy supply. For the past sev
eral years she has been a mem
ber of the Prentice Accordion
band, and has also sung at many
programs and concerts. Mr.
Starnes graduate of Ashland
High school, is a student at
Oregon State college.
Circle Meeting Held

Circle 8 members of the Meth
odist church tied a quilt during
the regular meeting of the group
March 25 in the church. Hos
tesses for the dessert luncheon
were Mrs. Floyd Lewis, Mrs.
Gale Culy and Mrs. W. T. Frost
A business meeting was con
ducted. Mrs. Frost announced
the May fellowship luncheon
will be held by Medford Council
of Church Women on May 2.
Mrs. Clyde Pittinger was a
visitor. v
The next regular meeting will
be in the home of Mrs. Louis
Bittle, 921 Maple park drive, on
April 25.

Plans April Frolic
The April Frolic, gala event
of each year at Jackson school.
has been scheduled for Friday,
April 4. Festivities will open
with a dinner to be served by
Jackson Parent-Teacher associa
tion. A program, arranged by
the teachers of the school, fea
turing pupils of the first four
grades, will follow dinner.
Throughout the evening there
will be "fun for everyone" with
various booths to be operated
by expert barkers. Pupils, par
ents, all patrons and friends of
the "hool are invited to all
events.
The dinner, which is in charge
of Mrs. W. H. McGuire, will be
served beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The program by the school will
open at 7:30 p.m.
A plant and flower booth will
be operated by Mrs. Horace
Doolen and a candy and baked
foods booth by Mrs. Frank Hard
en. There will be several fish
ponds for entertainment of the
children, committee workers re
ported yesterday, promising
more details on the entire per
formance would be released at
an early date.
