get-together and the public is in

The Ruch Happy Hemmers
4-H club met at the home of Mrs.
Lewis Buckley. Each member
received her instruction book
and chose her first project. We
also had a discussion about the
parts of a sewing machine. Each
girl is supposed to have at least
one finished article by next
meeting.

destroy that healthy attitude by
suspicions or by referring con
stantly to his misdeed. Drop the
matter and look upon it as a
closed incident.
When the boy goes to your
husband with the money and his
confession your husband should
be prepared for what is coming
by knowing what has already
happened. Explain the whole in
cident to him, tell him of your
son's attitude, and what your
son is planning to do.
Then, ask your husband to
promise you that he will treat
the matter m the same imper
sonal way that you have. Don't
let him make the boy feel that
he has been a "criminal" or that
he can never again be trusted.
When your son brings the whole
matter out into the open, that
will give your husband a good
opportuniy to emphasize what
you have already told your son
about stealing and its conse
quences.

motto. H.E.C. met March 23 at
the hall to do some cleaning and
are to have a potluck lunch.

rest rooms has started and good
progress is being made.
Mrs. Carnegie, chaplain of
Carmel Grange, was a visitor.
Mrs. Wolfe announced there
will be a moving picture put on
by the Carnation company, Sat
urday. March 29. After the pic
ture there will be refreshments
and dancing. She urged that all
Grangers and their friends be
there. Ladies are to bring cook
ies, sandwiches, cake or pie.

The lecture hour consisted of
a skit put on by Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Dalton, and Cal and Cora

looked just about as undressed as

legi stoutly maintained that her
little suits were clear illustra
tions of an alleged new feeling
in the fashion world that "nudity
is no longer nice."
Backs Higher
She pointed out that virtually
all of her designs this year raise
the suit in back by a few verte
brae, block the view of hips with
a bit of scalloping or cuffing, and
make milady bather's decolletage
ioom less. Bold Bikinis and tiny
two-piece affairs like those
back in the good old days are
now taboo, she said.
"Even though nudity is being
hit hard," said Miss Fellegi,
"men are looking at their women
more intently than in the season
of the Bikini.
"You see thcAmerican man is,
bless his heart, really embar
rassed by exposure. Back in Bi
kini time, he would look, blush,
and look away. Now with pru
dence returning in women's
swim suits, the man has a good
excuse for looking longer."
"The American male like
that little Cobean man in The
New Yorker cartoons sees in
his mind whatever he wants to
see, anyway," she said.

The designers said over-brief
swim styles in recent years have
served only to show "how amaz
ingly few women have good fig
ures." The Cole fashions this
year are engineered to make
them look less lumpy.

Of Indian Located
Chicago (U.R) The headless
skeleton of an Indian sacrificed
to the gods in prehistoric times
has been found in New Mexico
by Chicago archaeologists.
Dr. Paul S. Martin said an ar
chaeological expedition found
the body, probably that of an
Indian maiden, under the an
cient walls of a cliff house in
western New Mexico. The vic
tim had been beheaded.
Martin, chief curator of the de
partment of anthropology at the
Chicago Natural History muse
um, said this was the first evi
dence of human sacrifce he had
uncovered in his 17 expeditions
in the Southwest. Martin added,
however, that offering a human
victim to the gods was fairly
common among Indians of the
new world.
"Among the ancient Mayas of
Yucatan," he said, "maidens
were thrown into a sink-hole to
propitiate the gods and bring
good luck to the city of Chichen
Itza. The Pawnee Indians of the
plains used to sacrifice a maiden
to the morning star."
Possible Mineral Source

geologists have found possible
new sources of strategic min
erals on the vast, undeveloped is
land of Mindanao in the south
ern Philippines.
Demetrio Andres, director of
the bureau of mines, said partial
results of surveys conducted by
geologists showed possible
sources of chromite, copper,
manganese, and gold on the
island.
The surveys also indicated
that there are raw materials
available on the island for pro
duction of cement.

March 27, and lessons in rug
making will be given. All inter
ested are welcome. Bring scis

for the dinner.

at next H.E.C. meeting, Thurs
day, April 10.
