at a swank Sunset Strip night
club can get a peek at the movie
dance se
quences that
were too hot
for cash custo
mers in the
theaters.
Billy Daniel,
one of Holly
wood's top
dance direc
tors, stages
film dances for
Aliae Mosby such top film
queens as Betty Grable and
Susan Hayward. Sometimes the
censors snip out the sex appeal
from his numbers.
But Daniel saved them from
the cutting room floor.
He teamed up with singer
Lita Baron, . actor Rory Cal
houn's wife, and they staged a
night club act using all the
numbers Billy's designed for
movies.' So now you can see at
the Mocambo the unexpurgated
versions over a $5 steak.
Doss Betty's Shakes
Lita, he says, does everything
the censors wouldn't allow
.Betty to do in "Wabash Ave
nue." "
"She does the same shimmy
dance Betty did only Betty's
side kicks and shakes were cut
' out of the picture," Daniel says.
"Lita wears the same fringe
costume, too. But Betty stopped
in the middle of her dancing
scene and said she was embar
rassed. She said she felt un
dressed in the costume and ask
ed for a couple of bracelets!
'Then Lita does the 'Honey
Man' number from 'Wabash
Avenue' in which I put my
lyALINIMOSIT

Hollywood (U.R) Customers, hands on her hips to shake
them. That part was cut out of
the picture, too."
Billy's show also includes
dance sequences he designed for
Betty in "My Blue Heaven" and
Miss Hayward in "A Song in
My Heart." He keeps in the
parts censored for the movies
because "the only thing that
sells in a night club these days
is sex appeal."
"You can stay home and see
comedians on television," he
says. "And nightclubs have been
hurt by television. So you have
to sell the club customers the
kind of act that brings in the
girls. .
"It has to be romantic, to
help the man in the audience
romance his girl. If a woman
starts laughing and has too
much fun, it doesn't bring in
any romance.

FOR A LADY WHO WANTS TO BAWL
I said bawl, not bowL If she
could borrow, rent or buy a set
of bowls and get out on the

or three or six
days a week,
probably she'd
feel more like
chuckling than
bawling. But
let the lady tell
it her own
way:

(You mean you understand,
when I call readers names,
that I refer to other readers,

Ma'am. It is good to know
they are not all stupid.)
Will your iodin ration do
anything for an old lady who
gets so tired every hour or
two that she just wants to sit
down and bawl or die
makes no difference which?
(L. T.)
Well, now, with apologies to
Mr. Peevy the delightful drug
gist on F. McG. and M.'s pro
gram, I wouldn't say that. It
costs little or nothing to bawl,
but the way they have things
fixed you have to pay a pretty
penny no matter how you die.
Le'me see. Fortunately your
letter shows that you live in the
Great Lakes basin where soil,
water and food are poor in iodin.

I'm a quack, all right, but
even so, I do not mean to imply
that the Iodin Ration will make
everybody in the Great Lakes

(a) Every man, woman or child
in the country needs a wee,

maintain good nutrition.
(b) The soil, water and locally
grown food in many parts
of the country are deficient
in iodin.
