Broadcast' Despite OSAA Ruling
Salem (U.R) L. E. Parsons,
operator at Astoria's radio sta
tion KVAS, said Saturday that
he and sporstcaster Wally Palm
berg would attempt to broad
cast the Oregon state class "B"
championship basketball game
between Knappa and Rogue Riv
er from the Wiilamette univer
sity gym.
Broadcast of the tournament
games were prohibited this year
by a ruling of the Oregon School
Activities association, but Par
sons and Palmberg managed to
evade the ruling last night when
they took a miniature short
wave microphone into the gym
balcony and reported Knappa's
49 to 50 semi-final win over
Sublimity.
"We'll be back," Parsons said
Saturday.

Knappa is a little community
in Clatsop county served by
Parson's station and be asserted
its residents were entitled to
hear a broadcast of their team's
progress in the tourney.
Thomas A. Pigott, executive
secretary of the OSAA, tore out
the wire which Palmberg was
using to reach a sound truck
stationed outside, but Parsons
restored the circuit and the
broadcast continued.
Parsons was armed with a
letter from his attorney threat
ening suit against anyone at
tempting to eject him from the
building.
He charged that Piggot's ban
ning of broadcasts was "arbi
trary and illegal."
Piggot was reported confer
ring with Jhls own attorney.
Originally, he had claimed the
ban was an "experiment" to de
termine whether broadcasts had
any effect on paid attendance
at the tournaments.

A Name can promise sterling value; pledge last
ing satisfaction. A name, proved over the years, can certify to an especially
high type of performance. A name can stand for productive ability that
has changed the course of human history. A name can be representative of
enlightened scientific research to create new prosperity and Jbetter living.
If ever a name in business has come to mean all of these things, that name
is "Ford." It has held the confidence of three generations of Americans
and, particularly, of America's farmers.
To farmers, too, the Ford name is a reminder of millions of research
dollars, such as those invested in the exploration of soybean possibilities,
which opened huge new markets for this cash crop and pointed the way to
vastly widened uses for many other farm products.
The name "Ford" on a tractor today has a meaning even beyond all this.
It means manufacturing skill and volume production resources unique in the
farm equipment fields It means engineering leadership constantly keeping
ahead with such new developments as the Ford'Tractor "Proof-Meter." It
is backed by good service and assurance that parts will be available. It
means low price and a generous measure of extra value for that price.
And, finally, the name "Ford" is the symbol of a sound investment, for a
Ford Tractor, even after years of use, will still bring a good price.
