nancial position and can take
care of your children, there are
other things you must take into
account that are just as import
ant to their development as food,
shelter, clothes, and education.
They need a man's point of view
and a man's influence in their
lives. Petticoat rule is good for
neither boys nor girls. , ,
Include Children
Start going out with eligible
men of an age suitable for you.
When you meet a man whom
you care for and whom you re
gard as a potential husband, In
clude your children in some of
your dates with .him. This you
can do by inviting him to your
home for dinner or by taking
your ' children along to the
movies or for a drive 'with him.
This will not only eliminate
any "feelings they may- have that
he is "putting them out of your
life" but, of even greater im
portance, it will enable them to
get to know him and he, them.
You can quickly tell, when you
see them together, how things
might work out if you married
him,, and put . him in the role of
the children's father.
If things do hot work out well
from the start, take the clue and
drop him as a potential husband.
When children take a dislike to
a person at the very beginning
of their acquaintanceship, the
chances are that they will never
outgrow the prejudice.

tomers, for headache and upset
stomach which came on about
supper time before midnight

otic) and dead. Next morning an
old medical friend who had not
seen the man for months or
years saved the family embar
rassment by certifying that
death was due to heart failure
which was true enough, for
the heart always fails in acetan
ilid poisoning.
More about acute and chronic
acetanilid poisoning (habit) in

ope. Except to dull sensation of
ache or pain which one can't
endure without the dope, acetan
ilid, the main ingredient of most
nostrums which purport to be
good for "colds," grip, neuralgia,
headache, fatigue or what have
you, has no remedial value and
is more dan serous than aspirin
as a pain-killer.
. Some readers may recall my
advice about the use of the least
dangerous (it is never quite safe)
pain-killer, aspirin: If you must
take a dose of it you should lie
down or sit at rest for not less
than an hour afterward. If it is
impossible to do so, you had bet
ter not take the dope at all. This
applies only to the use of aspirin.
As for acetanilid, under its pro
per name or disguised in any of
the score of nostrums ignorant

that it contains acetanilid, my
advice is: Never take it at all,
unless under . your physician's
observation.

(2) lead colic, (3) kidney stone
