brand new broadcast of
news, with a well known ABC
commentator, is scheduled for
KYJC tonight at 10 o'clock to
replace Richfield's news broad
cast now on NBC.
Marriage partners, please note:
Bride and Groom program re
cently sent out a questionnaire
to all it's past guests, asking
them the traits they thought
most desirable. From the 1200
couples came these answers:
Women want men who are
thoughtful . . . and men want a
woman that can cook. Don't
know what it proves, but there
you are.
More new voices coming up
around here. One June Colbert
will be piping up at the 1230
spot before long, with a new
twist on some new material.
Lone Ranger and Tonto take

RESPONSIBILITY FOR TH
Old wives' tales pertaining to
vital questions of reproduction
have always had credence over
the truth in the
popular mind,
and I gather
from the que
ries of readers
that old wives'
tales even now
break up many
a family where
the truth might
prevent disas
ter. It seems that
in most child
lest marriages
the wife auto
matically assumes that she Is the
sterile partner and submits to
all aorta of treatment in the
hope of gaining or regaining fer
tility, the capacity to conceive.
The unfortunate part of this
common practice is that in fact
the husband, and not the wife,
is the sterile partner in most
childless marriages. It is high
time the world recognized this
truth and changed the old prac
tice. When a marriage has not
proved fruitful after three years
the couple may fairly wonder
whether one or both may be
sterile. Sterility in man or wom
an is not incompatible with ap
parent good health, full virility
or femininity. It has no particu
lar association with sexual po
tency. Of course a marriage may
be barren for more than three
years and then be blessed. It is
not rare to hear of a couple re
joicing in their first-born after
10 or 15 years of marriage.
According to an authority on
the subject Dr. Edmond J. Far-
ris, (Human Fertility and Prob
lems of the Male. The Author's
Press, Inc., White Plains, N. Y.)
only 40 per cent of American
men are fertile, and at least
5 million married couples in
America are sterile.
There is no specific means or
test which will determine wheth
er a woman is fertile.
A microscopic test which any
competent physician can make
will determine pretty accurate
ly whether a man is fertile.
It is obviously wrong, and in
most instances futile for the wife
to submit to examination or
treatment for possible sterility
unless or until the husband has
first passed the microscopic test.
Sterility in man or woman is
not necessarily an absolute and
unalterable state. There is plen
ty of evidence that simple cor
rection of a faulty diet, for in
stance, will restore fertility to
a man or a woman who has been
sterile. Such correction as that
outlined in the basic health diet
in The. 7 Keyg to Vlte for the
booklet send 25 cents and stamp
ed .self-addressed envelope.
There is no allusion to sterility
or fertility in the booklet. It
merely suggests how to build
your own everyday diet on the
pattern of the basic health diet,
which is a corrective, proteative
and, incidentally, a reduction
diet for most.
So far as medicines or ductless
gland derivatives or hormones
