of Miss Sally Jane Tarns, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Tains,

About 200 guests attended the
candlelight service which was
performed by the Rev. Harry
H. Young.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, had chosen for
her wedding a dross of powder
blue marquisette over taffeta
with an illusion veil of the
same color. She wore white
mitts and carried a white or
chid arranged on a white satin
covered Bible, a gift of the
bridegroom.
Mrs. Thomas Tarns was ma-tron-of-honor
for her sister-in-law.
Her gown was of pink dot
ted swiss with which she wore
a matching halo hat and mitts.
Miss Jean Goodwin and Miss
Pauline, bridesmaids, wore
green gowns.
Miss Aylene Hopkins and
Miss Betle Ridgley lighted the
candles. Their yellow dresses
were of the same design as
worn by the matron of honor,
and they also wore halo hats
and mitts. All carried colonial
bouqets of sweet peas.
Ringbearers were Miss Betty
Lou Rupp and Bill Hupp, chil
dren of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rupp.
Miss Rupp's dres was a rep
lica in white of the bride's
gown. Site wore a halo of sweet
peas and mitts.

parlors followed the ceremony.
The room was decorated with
summer flowers, and blue
daisies furnished table arrange
ments. Gardenias floated in the
punch bowl.
Miss Marilyn Schempp was
in charge of the guest book. For
signing the guest book, guests
used a gold pen which had be
longed to the bride's great-great-grcat-grandmother.
Mrs. Joseph Morris presided
at the bride's table, while Miss
Yvonne Gemaelich and Miss
Mona Lee Milner served punch.
Virgil Wolff furnished music
for the reception.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Tarns wore a navy blue
dress with blue accessories. The
bridegroom's mother wore
yellow crepe dress with yellow
accessories.
For traveling the bride wore
a white gabardine suit with
blue accessories and orchid cor
sage. The bride attended Medford
high school and Southern Ore
gon college and the bridegroom
is a graduate of Talent high
school.
The couple left for a trip to
Lake Tahoe and will return by
way. of San Francisco. After
July 1, they will be at home at

Miss Holderness Married
To Robert Vernon Divers
Gold Hill The wedding of Miss Leona Eleanor Holderness,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Eugene Holderness, 684 Fifth
avenue, to Robert Vernon Divers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M.
Divers of Goldendale, Wash., took place Saturday, June 17, at the
Community Methodist church at 8 p. m. The Rev. D. E. Millard
officiated at the ceremony, attended by 80 guests,
The church was decorated
with candelabra and baskets of
gladiolus arranged with green
ery and other flowers. The pews
were marked with white satin
bows.
Mrs. Roy Eskew played the
wedding marches and accompan
ied Mrs. Norman Gail, who sang.
The bridge was given in mar
riage by her father. She wore a
cream-colored crepe silk gown
with lace yoke and long, full
skirt. The silk for the dress had
been sent to the bride's mother
from China in 1918 when, Mr.
Holderness served in the U. S.
navy in World War I. Her
finger-tip veil fell from a small
lace cap. and the bridal bouquet
was cream roses centered with
white roses.
Miss Dena Jones was the only
attendant of the bride, and she
came from Corvallis for the wed
ding. Her dress was yellow ni
non and lace and she carried
a bouquet of yellow rosebuds
and white stock. Her headdress
was a bandeau of yellow rose
buds and white carnations.
Best man was Ralph Loomis,
friend of the bridegroom from
Pullman. The ushers were Gene
Holderness, brother of the bride,
of Portland, and Charles Gil
christ.
A reception followed Imme
diately after the ceremony at
the home of the bride's parents.
The rooms were decorated with
arrangements of flowers in pas
tel shades Mrs. Dale Collins cut
the wedding cake and Mrs. Wal-1
ter McLean and Mrs. Ferd Jones
served punch. Miss Arlene Div
ers, sister of the bridegroom,
had charge of the gifts.
Mrs. Holderness wore a dress
of aquamarine color with white
accessories and corsage of pink
rosebuds and stephanotis. Mrs.
Divers wore a dress of rose color
with white accessories and her
corsage was pink rosebuds and
blue delphinium.
The bride was graduated from
the Gold Hill high school and
attended and graduated from the
University of California at Los
Angeles where she majored in
physical education. She has at
tended the Washington State col
lege at Pullman as a fellowship
student in the physical educa
tion department. The bride
groom is attending the same
college as a graduate student in
research in agricultural econom
ics. He also served in the U. S.
Navy during the war.
For her going. away costume
the bride wore a navy blue suit
dress with white and navy blue
accessories and a corsage of
white rosebuds. The newlyweds
are traveling north along the
Oregon coast and will return to
Pullman where they will make
their home.

Meeting Monday Night
Constitution and by-laws for
the Jackson County Practical
Nurses association will be dis
cussed at a meeting of the group
Monday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting, which is the second
of the newly formed association
here, will be held on the fourth
floor of the Community hospital.
All practical nurses in the vi
cinity are urged by the officers
to attend.

Announces Installation;
Convention Report Made

chapter No. 8, Disabled Ameri
can Veterans, and the auxiliary
will meet Tuesday, June 27 at
8 pm. in the armory for instal
lation of officers and the usual
monthly business meeting. Wo
men attending are asked to take
cakes for the refreshment hour.
During the evening reports of
the recent department conven
tion, held June 13 to 18 1n
Eugene, will be heard. Mrs.
James Lillie of Medford, retiring
president, presided over the
auxiliary state session. She was
succeeded by Mrs. Ivan Parke
of Elmira.
Other state auxiliary officers
elected are Mrs. Boyd Bennett,
senior vice-commander; Mrs.
Verna Mason, LaGrande, Junior
vice-commander; Mrs. Robert
Bryant, Grants Pass, chaplain
and Mrs. Pearl Cleek, Junction
City, treasurer. Mrs. Gladys
Benda of Springfield was ap
pointed adjutant.
Mrs. Lillie was named dele
gate to the national convention,
to be held in San Francisco be
ginning August 13.
Mrs. Lillie states that the
Jackson countv auxiliary won
' ,ne membership cup for having
the largest increase in enroll
ment. The county auxiliary now
has 109 members, having in
creased membership by 31 per
sons during the year.
A large delegation attended
the convention, and Mrs. Lillie
was honored at a dinner given
by local members. She was pre
sented gifts during the dinner.
