Attorney General George Neu
ner today ruled that the district
school board of school district
No. 7 in Grants Pass has no au
thority to levy any special charge
or fee ande from taxes for reg
istration in an elementary school
in Oregon.
The opinion was made at the
request of Josephine county dis
trict Attorney William F. John
son of Grants Pass.
The opinion held that there
was "no basis for a school board
of a first class district to levy
any special charge or fee for
registration in an elementary
school."
Bids Called to Expand
Four Josephine Schools
Grants Pass, Ore., June 20
(U.R) Bids on additions to four
rural schools in Josephine coun
ty have been called and will be
opened June 24.
The additions are all for new
school plants constructed within
the past two years. They cover
the Murphy, O'Brien, Fruitdale
and Jerome Prairie schools
where within a single year en
rollment has Increased by 88 stu
