To people, who write in to cor
rect my grammar I am gratelul
tor their interest. However, I
wLld like to call their attention
to an observation made by Al
bert Hubbard:. "J!ra,mmr F ? 1?
to obliterate individuality. Let
men express themselves in their
own way, and if they express
taemselve's poorly their punish
ment will be that no one will
read them. Oblivion, with its

writer who has nothing to say
and says it faultlessly."
BlEefE! "Buddy" Fogelson, the
lucky fellow who married Greer
Garson, once had a racing stable
of all gray horses. At one time
Mr Fogelson had twenty-four
gray thoroughbreds in training
Snd the only, one to win a race
was an animal named Gray
Jack . . Every time I have
seen 'the Duchess of Windsor she
has been going into a shop. She
may be the world's champion
shopper. It is said during the
month before her wedding to the
Duke she bought 107 dresses
and forty-six hats in Paris.

Do you pride yourself on the
accuracy of your pronunciation?
All right, tell us quick as hall
a flash how to pronounce
"desuetude." . . .Ever hear of a
man living 101 years in the same
house? John R. Voorhies. a well
known New Yorker, was born
at 786 Greenwich Street, bor
ough of Manhattan, and lived
there all his life. He passed on
at the age of 101. Let California
top that.
Horses k Women.
Leon Blum, French statesman,
once took his mind off politics
for a period and wrote a book
titled "Love." One of the obser
vations Monsieur Blum made in
this book was: "Never forget to
make your wife believe you real
ly love her or she may succumb
to the natural temptation to try
out her feminine powers on
some other man. A woman needs
confirmation of her power."
Asking.
Queries from clients: Q. Are
you familiar with a song titled
f'A Little of What You Fancy
Does You Good?" A. Don t
know the words. All 1 know is
it is an English musical hall song
popularized by Marie Lloyd. Q.
How many wives did De Wolf
Hopper have and what were
their maiden names? Wasn't
Edna Wallace Hooper the first?
A. De Wolf Hopper had six
wives. Edna Wallace was the
third. The order was as follows:
1, Ella Gardiner; 2, Ida Mosher;
3, Edna Wallace; 4, Nellie Ber
gen; 5. Ella Furry (now known
as Hedda Hopper); 6, Lillian
Glaser.
Sidelights.
There have only been about
20 novels In this country which
have sold over a million copies
and Gene Stratton Porter wrote
four of them: "Freckles," which
sold two million copies; "Girls
of the Llmberlost." 1.700,000;
"The Harvester," 1,600,000, and
"Laddie," 1,500,000. . . . One of
the world's greatest fortunes,
that of $115,000,000 left by John
T. Dorance, was made selling
canned soup. Mr. Dorance cer
tainly must have sold a lot of
soup. He left more money than
J. P. Morgan.
Beauty.
Do you think Jean Harlow
was a beautiful woman? So do
I. But Jean herself wasn't sure
about It. She once said: "My
nose doesn't belong to my face
at all, When noses were shuffled
and dealt out I drew somebody's
else's. I have no chin to speak
of. My eyes are set too deep in
their sockets. My legs are all
right as legs go, but you may
have observed I never wear
short skirts."
Mules And Men.
Two thirds of the men in the
United States marry before they
are 30 years of age. Men over
30 are difficult to get into matri
monial harness. After a woman
has accomplished this her diffi
culties are qnly starting. A
bachelor in his 30's is usually
set in his ways and has develop
ed an intense love of liberty.
Only an exceptionally brilliant
woman of strong character and
unusual patience can make a
success of marriage with such a
man.
Remembering Lillian.
So Lillian Gish is to appear
in a film version of Dostoyef
sky's novel, "Crime and Punish
ment." This film is to be produc
ed in Paris. How long is it since
Lillian has appeared before the
camera? I can't even remember
her last picture. The first picture
I saw her in was "The Birth of
a Nation." The second was
titled, "The Lilly and the Rose."
In this she was co-starred with
Rozika Dolly, of the Dolly Sis
ters. If you can recall the latter
film I certainly can get you into
the Young Old Timers.
