Gets Praise

cett, former Medford high base
ball star, has completed a fine
first year as regular second base
man on the Oregon State college
varsity.
The Medford youth cracked
out 16 hits in 56 times at bat in
14 northern division games for a
.286 average. He collected three
doubles during the campaign. In
the fielding department Fawcett
was unusually steadv for a sopho
more, making only five errors In
14 contests. He turned in 35 as
sists to rank near the top in the
conference and started numerous
double plays.

Gets Springfield Boy
Eugene, Ore., June 7 (U.R)
Texelle Hendricks 15-year-old
Springfield, Ore., youth charged
with negligent homicide, was re
manded to the Juvenile depart
ment yesterday by Circuit Judge
G. F. Skipworth.
The Hendricks youth was
charged with fatally injuring
nine-year-old Barbara Joan Paul
in an auto accident May 20.
Last week, Jerald L. Hampel,
24. was sentenced to five years
in the state penitentiary for per
mitting Hendrix to drink liquor
in his car before the fatal acci
dent. Hendricks was driving Ham
pel's auto when it went off the
road, striking and killing Bar
bara Joan and sending her sis
ter. Jeanette, 11, to a hospital.

Annual Picnic Here
The second annual picnic for
former residents of Minnesota
was held recently at TouVelle
state park. More than 200 at
tended. Mrs. Clarence Christiansen,
Talent, was named president of
the Minnesota organization. Oth
er officers are Mrs. Everett
Gosch, vice-president; Mrs. S. M.
Purcell, secretary-treasurer, and
Mrs. Fred D. Adams, registra
tion clerk. All are from Med
ford. Most of the afternoon was
taken up by a picnic lunch, reg
istration of members and visitors
and social activities. Games and
contests concluded the after
noon. Plans are being made for an
other similar event next year,
also to be held at TouVelle park.
