Larks in the first of a four game

Indians got four runs in that
canto on two walks, an error, a
hit batter and two hits.
They got three more on a
walk, hit and Dexter Careys
homer in the second. Frank Olson
homered for a run in the third.
Three more came in the fourth
on two singles, Glen Scofields
triple and- a fielder's option.
Garey's homer, a walk, a single
and Chet Rowe's triple provided
three counters in the fifth.
Grants Pan Scores
Grants Pass picked up its two
runs in the seventh frame on a
triple and two errors.

Aid Swim Pool, Baseball
Two maior projects for the
Athletics Booster club to pro
mote this summer were started
last night when the organization
met at the Holland hotel.
In addition to helping put over
the formal opening of the Haw
thorne park swimming pool on
Sunday. June 4, the Boosters will
also aid in making it possible for
more Medford boys to take part
in the annual summer baseball
school

The company started to drill

Lemmon and J. Verne Shangle,

to prospect for oil in eastern
Oregon, and plans are under way
to secure a lease in Illinois, near
the present producing well, for
the United company.
Other on interests held in part
by the Medford men includes a
block of 12.000 acres in Kansas
near a field where 20 producing
wells have been drilled since
last SeDtember. Drilling there
will start shortly, according to
Shangle The Kansas oil strike
has been producing from 300 to
3.000 barrels daily, it was re
