Roosevelt Mothers' chorus sang
or the last meeting of Roosevelt

Mrs. Harlan P. Bosworth Jr.,
spoke on the importance of re
ligious education in the lives of
American children. She said that
the first great event in history
was the creation of a human be

deny his animal instincts and
rise above the mere animal crea
tures. Mrs. Bosworth said that
children's ideals are usually de
termined by the lives of charac
ters they love and she suggested
that parents give more thought
to the spiritual welfare of their
children by studying the Bible
and observing the practice of
family worship and graces in the
home.
Mrs. John W. Danforth, retir

The Brooklyn Dodgers have

Loses Stogies
Joining in a recent discussion
here concerning the comparative
prices per quart of milk in Mi
ami, Fla., and New York city, a
man named John Flournoy Mont
gomery claimed all the major
dairy products companies in the
New York area were losing
money. Mr. Montgomery added:
"I will give a box of stogies to
anybody naming a dairy prod
ucts company of any size that
made a profit in 1949." It looks
as if the gentleman is stuck for
the stogies. According to that re
liable publication, the Rural New
Yorker, the net profit of the Na
tional Dairy Products company
for 1949 was $33,258,853. That of
the Borden company was $21,
890,479. Asking

sion of the stage hit musical,
Roberta. However, the song
was originally introduced in the
stage version by that actress
known, as Tamara. Q. Don't un

the radio. My wife says it is ri
diculous to listen to songs in a
language you don't understand.
What do you think? A. Pay no
attention to what your spouse
says. French is a beautiful lan
guage. French singers, especially
of the feminine gender, put a lot
of feeling into a song. I don t
understand much French but I
buy all the records of Lucienne
Boyer, the trench chanteuse,
and can listen to them all night.

Among the Married
What were you wearing when
married? Does your husband re
member? Of course, if you had a
church wedding that is easy to
recall. But if you were married
by a justice of the peace or other
quaiitiea person, your weaaing
day attire might be difficult for
your husband to recall. However.
if he doesn t remember, don t
blame him. He was probably just
looking into your eyes. There are
illumerable versions of that
poem dealing with the color of
the bride s attire. Here is ona a
California matron recalls:

Pleata Note
The most brilliantly acted play
of the current New York theat
rical season is, in my opinion,
"The Innocent s." Beatrice
Straight, the star, is destined to
be our first lady of the theater
some day. David Cole is the most
remarkable boy actor I have
ever seen. And I have seen a lot
of them. Master Cole, now only
13, is a finished actor. He ap

you better name your next fe
