Klamath Falls high baseball
team must be thinking today that
it should have stayed at home in
stead of going to Medford to play
the Black Tornado nine last week
Friday.
As it was the Pelicans through
errors practically gave Medford
a 6 to 2 Southern Oregon confer
ence victory and kept the boys
coached by Alex McDonald still
mathematically in the race for
first place conference honors.
Medford picked up a pair of
runs in the first inning when
Gary Boshears reached on an
error and Ray Smith and Don
Coss walked and two scored
when Klamath committed an
other misplay.
Wilkinson Gets Walk
Another crossed the plate for
the Tornado in the second inning
on a walk to Don Wilkinson, a
passed ball and the shortstop's
mispiay on Boshears' ground
ball.
The Tornado waited until the
fifth before it got two more
runs. This time Cose lined a sin
gle to right center and scored
when Smith tripled over the cen
terfielder's head to deep center.
Smith in turn scored when Con
nie Holzgang "squeezed" him
home on a beautiful last split
second bunt.
Smith was off before the pitch
left the hurler's hand and prob
ably would have been safe had
Holzgang missed out.
Conner Beat! Throw
The final Tornado run in the
sixth stanza came when Dennis
Conner beat out a slow roller to
third base and he went to second
as the hot corner guardian
heaved the ball over first base
Wilkinson sacrificed him to third
and Conner scored later on a
wild nitch.
A home run by Overon for the
Pelicans was another feature of
the game.
The box score:
awns.

Rematch, Atlas
Leo Wallick, the Detroit De

success yesterday in his attempt
to get a rematch with the Great
Atlas on Mack Lillard's wrest

"Tell the big bum to go out
and get a reputation," the At

"Ho doesn't belong in the same
ring with me."
Meanwhile, Lillard said he be
lieved the fans were entitled
to see Wallick get another
chance and he said he also be

undergoes a change of mind
pretty soon, Lillard will have to
