Prayer Suggested
For Use Sunday
In connection with National
Security week and Armed Forces
day to be observed here next
week, the following prayer has
been suggested by the war de
partment as appropriate for use
on Sunday, May 14. It will be
read in a number of Medford
churches Sunday.
Lord God of Hosts, in whom
our fathers trusted: We give
Thee thanks for all Thy ser
vants who have laid down
their lives in the service of
our country. Unite all the
people of this nation in a holy
purpose to defend the freedom
and brotherhood for which
they lived and died. Grant,
we beseech Thee, that the lib
erty they bequeathed unto us
may be continued to our chil
dren and our children's
children.
O God our Father, we com
mend to Thy keeping all the
men and women serving our
country in the armed forces by
sea, land and air, that they win
for the whole world a Just
peace, and that the sacrifices
which they offer for our coun
try's cause may be accaptcable
in Thy sight, and that an
entrance into Thine eternal
peace may, by Thy pardoning
grace beopen unto them.
And Thine shall be the
glory forever and ever.
Amen.
