Shower Party Given
By Upper Rogue Club
Women of the Upper Rogue
Grange HEC club gave a shower
in the Grange hall May 2 honor
ing Mrs. Donald Vaughn. Games
were played, with Mrs. Al Bed
ingfield winning first prize and
the consolation prize going to
Mrs. Ranald Axtell. .
Mri. Vaughn received many
gifts, and refreshments were
served.

Eagle Point Woman
Honored on Birthday
Eagle Point Mrs. Joe May
ham was honored April 29 with
a surprise party given by her
daughters. The evening was
spent square dancing to music
furnished by Mr. and Mrs. John
Noble and at the end of the eve
ning the honored guest was pre
sented many gifts.
A four-tier birthday cake was
served.

Nile To Meet
Charter members of Zuleima
Temple, Daughters of the Nile,
will be honored at a meeting of
the group set for Saturday, May
13. It will be held In the Grants
Pass Masonic temple and is set
for 2 p.m.

Name New Officers;
Plan Coming Events
Gold Hill Mrs. D. H. Stewart
was elected president of Gold
Hill Garden club at a meeting
held at the home of Mrs. Arthur
Boye Friday. Mrs. Carl Boye was
named vice-president; Mrs. Paul
Holderness, secretary-treasurer.
Installation of officers will be
held at the June meeting, and
Mrs. R. T. Nlchol, Medford, re
tiring president of the Siskiyou
district, will be installing offi
cer. The club voted to send a dele
gate to the state federation con
vention to be held in Klamath
Falls June 13, 14, 15 and Mrs.
Stewart was chosen. The alter
nate will be Mrs. C. L. Dusen
berry. A food sale will be held at
Lester's store Saturday, May 27.
The committee for morning will
be Mrs. Ada Dusenberry and
Mrs. Edith Thompson, and the
afternoon committee will be Mrs.
George Tulare and Mrs. D. H.
Stewart. All food for the sale
should be taken there by 10 a.m.
The members were invited to
attend and exhibit at the flower
show to be held by the Medford
Garden club at the Y.M.C.A.,
May 16, the hours being 12 noon
to 9 p.m. The second week of
May is designated as clean-up
week for streets, yards, waysides
by Mrs. Albert Pfeiler, state
roadside chairman.
A committee was appointed to
help plan the annual senior din
ner to be held May 31. Mrs. Les
ter Thompson was appointed
chairman with Mrs. W. K. Bres
sel and Mrs. George Dorman as
assistants. Mrs. Thompson has
called a meeting of all commit
tees to be held at her house,
1083 Fourth avenue Tuesday,
May 16 at 6 p.m.
A committee was named to or
der a bronze marker to replace
the one destroyed at the city
hall grounds, if it can be pur
chased for $45. The committee!.

Memorial day. Other organiza
tions have made an offer of the
former reward money towards
the new Dlaoue.
The Siskiyou district meeting
at Rogue River luesday was
announced. Mrs. Carl Boye and
Mrs. W. K. Bressel were named
to assist the Rogue River club
Tuesday. May 16 at which each
woman is to wear a hat made
of growing things, such as flow
ers or vegetables. The frames of
the hats cannot be bought but
must be made. Prizes will be giv
en for the best and most original
hats. Anyone wishing to attend
the meeting is asked to be at
the postoffice at 12:30 p.m. for
transportation.
A project suggested for next
year was a planting along the
highway to screen off the stor
age platforms along the tracks
of the Southern Pacific railroad.
Mrs. Bressel and Mrs. Hannah
Routh will take flowers to Camp
White Wednesday, May 17, at 1
p.m. Flowers may be left at
Mrs. Ada Dusen berry's house.

350 Singers To Be Heard
In Annual Spring Concert

Medford lunior hieh school will present 350 singers in the an
nual SDrine concert to be given Friday, May 12 at 8 p.m. in the
iunior high school gymnasium by the school s
and band.
Choral groups are directed by
Ray Lewis. The girls' chorus and
the mixed chorus received su
perior ratings in the recent south
ern Oregon music contest held
in Grants Pass. These groups
were pronounced outstanding
among choral organizations pres
ent, as was the junior high or
chestra among instrumental
groups.
Mr. Lewis will also present a
large chorus of seventh grade
singers and a boys' ensemble.
Seventh graders will sing "At
Nightfall" by Ralph Baldwin,
"Twilight" by A. Rubenstein and
"Oh. Dear! What Can the Mat
ter Be," a folk song.
Songs to be sung by the girls'
chorus include "Joshua Fit de
Battle of Jericho," a spiritual
arranged by Nobel Cain; "Wood
en Shoes," by Victor Herbert,
and "The Sleeping Lake," by
Wilhousky.
The mixed chorus will be
heard in "Little Jack Horner,"
by William Shaffer, and "A Vio
lin Is Singing in the Streets," by
Koshets.
The mixed chorus gave a pro
gram for veterans at Camp
White, Wednesday, and has made
I several appearances in local
churches.
The concert is timed to coin

A small admission charge will

At Cecil Martin Home
Sewette club met at the home
of Mrs. Cecil Martin May 4. with
the members sewing on a quilt.
Games were played, with first
prizes won by Mrs. Laniewski
and Mrs. Buck Tosh. Consola
tion prize was won by Mrs. Tom
Cook.
