One of the charming misses was

Beverly Ruffin, whose dad is
the domiciliary omcer. im
young ladies are completing
their last year of high school
and attend at Eagle Point. Com
mencement day will be the last
of this month.
Seems like they "day dodge
back and forth on the Camp
White bus and both plan on a
business college course when
next fall is here. When the cof
fee and cake had gone, Priscilla
and Beverly went home. They
didn't dance just looked on.
And somehow the writer felt a
lot better last evening for hav
ing met them made him think
of teen age daughter Molly who
will graduate from the 8th
grade next June at Astoria.
There is something about the
girl graduate be it scnooi, nign

portant. And we hope always
will be.
And speaking of dances

boys who could get around. And
for the wheel chair patients who
couldn't dance there were prizes
too about a dozen.
Mrs. Clymer and her fine five-
piece orchestra sent tne music
It was good. And between times
Dick Spain and his guitar enter
tained. Dick has a fine voice and
his songs wen thoroughly
enjoyed.
The ladies of the Eagles rate
a salute. Tor they went all out
to put the program over. Anoth
er one of those not-to-be-forgotten
items that make the days a
lot easier to take in a veteran's
home.
From Portland way there was
recently enrolled one Willard
P. Abbott who is now a mem
ber of Company 1. aodou is a
Greybeard of WW I and as near
as this writer can make out, he
has a rating that is the only one
of its kind on this station. On
his discharge papers it reads:
"Horse shoer.''
That's it. Seems the cavalry
was discounted when we got
underway back in '17 and '18,
and young Abott found himself
with a machine gun outfit put
ting shoes on pack mules and
horses. And the boy from Okla
homa saw It all was ,i every
front from the time we first cut
loose until the Kaiser thought
that he had had enough, Nov.
11, 1918.
Horseshoer Abbott now wears
a hearing aid. It is my opinion
that he was placed in a bunk
next to mine with instructions
to disconnect if "Yak-Yak" be
came bothersome or gentle
snores brought on a sleepless
night.
Often wondered why the oth
er bunk mate moved to another
and possibly more quiet sector.
Captain Hampton is wise in his
ways.
When you miss a bus to come
out from Over Town the situa
tion It serious. Walking is too
far and a taxi really knocks a
five dollar bill to bits. Such the
sad state of affairs when we
wailed out tale of woe in the
coffee shop next to George Gates
Furniture store.
"I'm going out to the White
City Lumber company pretty
soon. Glad to haul you out."

now who drives an end lift for
the lumber firm, and so riding
with his spotter and buddy.
Dewey Sparling, the day was
saved. Dewey was too young to
get into Argument Two. But
Ted made it, and howl Three
years he spent with the fool
soldiers down in the jungles of
the south Pacific. Back home,
married and with a good job. It
was a treat to meet up witn Kid
Zahnow. Thanks, Ted.
Ed Hudson, "sea bee" of
White City cafe, is going all for
the navy. .The latest addition to
his staff is one Pat Donson who
cooked his way around the world
while on the pay roll of Uncle
Samuel. Pat wore the bell bot
tom trousers for about 22 years.
The lovely lady was going
through the notiBy shop, tvery
one seemed to know her. A joke
here and a joke there; a pat on
the Back for work under way.
And laughter everywhere.
Verna Flowers Dale s wife
volunteer hospital worker, was
making her rounds. Been out
this way countless of times and
she seems to have friends by the
hundreds.
"Ty" Teorey, head man of
arts, crafts and hobbies, made
an introduction and we had the
pleasure of talking for a while
Not long enough. Anyway, Dale
and Verna Flowers have an up
holstery shop Over Town. She
works in it with nim.

they set up a flying saucer obser
vation post on the roof of the
house.
