was discussed in detail and Mrs.

ed at a meeting set for Wednes
day, May 10 at 8 p.m. in the
banquet room of the Rogue Val
ley Country club.
Mrs. Ron Gandee, president
of Medford Lions' auxiliary, will
conduct the installation cere
monies. Officers to be installed
are Mrs. John I. Bacon Jr.,
president; Mrs. G. R. Grannis,
first vice-president; Mrs. Albert
Wonderlich, second vice-president;
Mrs. Frank Knox, secre
tary; Mrs. Joyce W. Wickman,
treasurer and Mrs. Gordon
Thompson, lion trainer.
Visitors are welcome, the
committee states.
BACH FESTIVAL
Widespread preparations are
being made in Germany to com
memorate the 200th anniversary
of Johann Sebastian Bach, par
ticularly in Goettingen, where
an elaborate Bach Festival will
be staged this summer in mem
ory of the composer, recognized
as one df the three greatest
names in music.

Jacksonville Past matrons
and patrons of Adarel chapter
and other chapters, Order of the
Eastern Star, were honored at a
meeting of the Adarel chapter in
Jacksonville Masonic hall Thurs
day. .
Honored guests were Mrs. Ida
Wilson, Mrs. Blanche Taylor,
Mrs. Frank Root, Mrs. Ralph
Lue, Mrs. Harris Olsen, Mrs. E.
E. Evans, Mrs. Frances Laughlin,
Milton Winn, Ed Gould, James
Matthews and Joe Warren.
Mrs. Blanche Taylor came
from Oakland, Calif., for the
meeting.
Miss D'Ann Beck sang two
numbers. Mrs. Clarence H.
Mathison gave two readings and
Mrs. D. M. Blickenstaff, accom
panied Miss Beck and played
several piano solos. The tables
were decorated with May poles
wound with ribbons in the or
der's colors. Tiny May baskets
containing flowers were at each
place.
Vermont was the first state
to provide for full manhood suf
frage which was not dependent
on property, owned or rented,
or a specified income.

For Jacksonville Unit;
Committees Announced
Jacksonville Mrs. Ben Day,
Sams Valley, past president of
the Jackson County Council of
Parents and Teachers, installed
the 1930-51 officers of Jackson
ville Parent-Teacher association
at the final meeting of the group
for this school term, Wednesday
evening.
Installed were Mrs. Paul Ma
theny, president; Mrs. Paul Cul
bertson, vice-president; M r s.
Melvin H. Hall, secretary, and
Mrs. Herbert Sutton, treasurer.
Outgoing officers are Mrs. Cul
bertson, president; Mrs. Hall,
vice-president; Mrs. Peter Shaf
er, secretary, and Mrs. A. E.
Reinking, treasurer.
Mrs. Day presented both in
coming and outgoing officers
with corsages. Mrs. H. L. Mark
with, who had resigned the 1949
50 presidency because of illness,
was presented a corsage by Mrs.
Culbertson.
Miss Hazel Swayne. chairman
of Medford Safety council, spoke
regarding safety for children and
in the home. Committee chair
men of the association made re
ports. Mrs. Johanne Van Liew's sec
ond grade room won the room
prize.

for the coming year were an
nounced by Mrs. Mstheny, the
new president. Miss Janet Bur
pee of the high school teaching
staff, was "appointed program
chairman; Mrs. Dick Boyd, coun
selor at the school, and Mrs. Cul
bertson, hospitality; Mrs. George
Wendt, music; Mrs. Roy White,
Mrs. Elba Graham. Mrs. Eddie
Frazier and Mrs. Fred Edens,
ways and means; Mrs. Reinking
and Mrs. John Keavenv, mem
bership; Mrs. L. R. Wicksten,
magazine; Mrs. Paul Godward,
room mother; Mrs. A. W. Bow
man, canning; Mrs. Charles P.
McBcth, telephone chairman for
canning program.
Mrs. Culbertson, Mrs. Rein
king. Mrs. Sutton. Mrs. Virgil
Halstead and Mrs. Matheny will
form the budget committee. Mrs.
Otto Heckert will be school
board representative; Mrs. El
mer Adams, summer roundup,
Mrs. W o o d r o w McCormack,
flower fund; Mrs. Elmer Ay res,
legislative; and Mrs. Paul Bui
kin, publicity.
Mrs. McBeth was chairman of
the junior class mothers who
served refreshments at the close
of the meeting. May baskets fill
ed with tulips, white lilacs and
narcissi decorated the tables.

leman, treasurer.
A pin was presented for Mrs.
June Colbert as outgoing presi
dent. Mrs. Colbert not being
present, Mrs. Harry Randall,
outgoing vice-president, pre
sided. Mrs. Eve Prentice presented
pupils of her accordion band
from the Evans Valley school.
Those playing were Mrs. Jessie
Kasper, Mrs. Chester Jensen,
Monica West, Warren Deckle
man, Richard Hoffman, Walter
Wood, Jaren McCoy, Patsy
Reves. Jo Ann Wood, Michael
and Timmy Golt.
