innings. The outburst equaled a
league record for consecutive
homers set in 1923 by Pete
Schneider of Vernon, also

doubles with 1270. Walter

complished a double sweep, win
ning the singles with 673 and

Men's rivalry was held on two
week-ends with the first play on
Auril 1 and 2. All victors beat
out the scores of leaders two
weeks ago.
Medford quints won the first
five places in team battles.

ond with 2893, Walker Real Es
tate third with 2882, E. H. Mann
company fourth with 2864 and
Saylor's Barber shop fifth with
2833.
In all-events Ray Johnson,
Crescent City, was second with
1841, Al Sacchi, Medford, third
with 1837 and L. L. Spencer,
Roseburg. first week-end leader,
fourth with 1829.
Dick Westerfield, Ashland,
was second in singles with 652
and Pete Brunk, Crescent City,
early leader, third with 640. In
the doubles Medford went three
deep. Al Sacchi and Harold Ves

Stanley stopped Bayard Getch-

the finals. On Saturday Pierce
spilled Jack Lewis by the same
score. Yesterday Stanley carded
a 74 over the route.
Champs in two lower flights
have been decided. Tod Porter

Cal., boxer who holds the California lightweight championship,
will clash with Killer Dick Adkins of Griftin Creek in one of the
championship matches on the Southern Oregon Boxing club's card
at the armory Wednesday night. They will mix it for the southern
Oregon-northern California crown. All of the title matches have
the sanction of the AAU. The first bout starts at 8 p.m. and tickets
are on sale at Lamport's sporting goods store.
Belcastro - Atlas
Set for Thursday

barrels over the week-end wjien
he signed the Great Atlas to
meet Pete Belcastro and Leo
Wallick to tangle with Lee G Ta
ble on the armory wrestling
card Thursday night.
The Atlas telephoned Lillard
from Portland yesterday saying.
"What's all this publicity about
me dodging a match with that
Belcastro guy I'm not dodging
any bum if I can get my price. I
don't consider Belcastro worthy
as an opponent for me but if
you want to pay my fee, I'll ac
commodate him.
iLUard didn't say what the
Atlas asked in the way of re
muneration but he did say that
they had come to terms for the
match.
Considerable bad blood devel
oped last week when the Atlas
jumped into the ring after Bel
castro had taken a fall on Rod
Prospect Defeats
Eagle Point, 6-5
Veterans Center, Apr. 17
Prospect nipped a ninth inning
rally by Eagle Point that already
had produced one run with two
men out to defeat the Eagles'
town baseball team 6 to 5 in a
practice game here Sunday after
noon. Both teams are members of
the Rogue Valley Baseball
league, Prospect being a new
member this season.

got Belcastro in a full nelson and
applied considerable pressure be
fore Referee Earl Yoakley could
break it up.
Another match which should
stir up plenty of action is the
Wallick-Grable tussle. Recently
they tangled in Portland and
drew the biggest crowd ever to
see a wrestling match in that
city. Wallick is the gladiator
who about three months ago in
jured Grable's leg. forcing the
Los Angeles grappler to take a
six weeks rest from the ring.
Grable has always believed the
injury was uncalled for and
wants to crush the big fellow in
retaliation.
Strickland vs. Bell
The opener, starting at 8:30
p.m., will send George Strick
land in with Ted Bell. They
should provide enough fast and
clever mat work to satisfy the
most exacting fan.
Reserve seat tickets, as well as
general admission ducats, will be
on sale at the armory Thursday
night. Those having regular re
served seats from week to week
will be able to pick their tickets
up there.

Pistol Meet
Wade Anderson, Corvallis,
won the grand aggregate with a
score of 970 in the second annual
gallery pistol tournament held
yesterday by the Medford Rifle
club.
H. F. Beauchamp, Portland,
took second also with 970. The
winner was decided by the rapid
fire score, difference of only
three points.
Russell Niblock, Vancouver,
Wash., winner in the February
tournament held here, was third
with 959.
Rogue River's team, Paul Shel
ton, Vernon Fowlie, Joe Allison
and Joe Dennis, won the nation
al course match over teams from
Portland. Corvallis, Grants Pass
and Medford. They received the
Bolton trophy in addition to in
dividual medals.

opener.
Oregon pole vaulter George
Rasmussen tied the Idaho-Oregon
meet record he set last year with
a 14-foot vault.
Dave Henthorne. who won
both sprints, and Bob Anderson,
with firsts in the shot-put and
discus throw, tied for scoring
honors with 10 points each.
Idaho's only firsts were in the
440-yjrd dash won by Don Mil
ler, trie 120-yard high hurdles
won by Keith Bean, and the mile
relay.
