Big Seed Growing
Cooperative Plan
Announced Locally
Two of Jackson county's larg
est farm operator s Charlie
Hoover and his sons Claud and
Bud, and Walter H. Leverett
announced Saturday that they
will join in the production of
seed crops on property on Lev-
erette's Table-Top Hereford
ranch.
Hoover and his sons will su
pervise and direct the operation
while Abe Halfhill will remain
as manager of the Leverette
ranch property, no transfers or
sales of property are involved
in tne transaction, the announce
ment said.
Cover 1,000 Acres
The enterprise will be known
as the Hoover-Leverette Seed
farms, and will cover some
1,000 acres of the 2,500-acre
ranch already under irrigation.
The seed blocks are now under
crops, mostly lotus, ladino clo
ver and alfalfa.
In commenting on the project,
Hoover said, "Our firm is
pleased in securing the blocks.
Their new seeding of ladino clo
ver is from our own foundation
blue tag fields, and the 250
acres of lotus seed came from
the original field where we
threshed our first lotus. The 500
acres of alfalfa is the Jackson
county common. The seed was
first secured from John Nieder
meyer. His not only one of the
highest producing seed fields in
the county, but also produces
more dry-land hay than any in
the county." It is a particularly
hard hay, Hoover added.
Scientists to Watch
'The Leverette ranch will be i
watched with interest by scien
tists and farmers, because of
the different types of irrigation.
There are now 250 acres under
sprinkler system, and adjoining
lands are flood irrigated. Var
ious dusting for insecticide ex
periments will be conducted by
the federal, state and county
governments, and by the oper
ators," he said. The Leverette
block of new ladino clover is
the largest in southern Oregon,
combined with the Hoover prop
erties. The Hoover-Arnold Boh
ernert harvesting crews will be
united to harvest the crop.

New Music Instrument On Display Locally
A new development in the
field of musical Instruments,
the Lowrey "Organo," is now
available in Medford at Prultt's
Music center, it was announced
Friday. The Organo, an attach
ment for pianos which plays
through a speaker, is said to be
different from other devices of
this nature in that it can be
played as complete chords, rath
er than as single notes.
The device enables the musi
cian to play the instrument as
a piano, as an organ or as an
organ and piano together, it is
stated. Its installation is said to
be a matter of only minutes, and
no special training is required
to play the attachment.
The music center has already
stocked the Organos, the first
to arrive in the valley.
