Badge Series To Start
For Girl Scout Troops
Saturday, April 15, intermedi
ate and senior Girl scouts -will
meet in the Sunday school room
of Zion Lutheran church for the
first of seven meetings to earn
their group music badge. The
meeting will be from 9:30 to
10:30 a.m.
Six out of seven meetings
must be attended to earn the
badge, and scouts are urged to
be there promptly at 9:30.
The work will be under the
direction of Miss Janet Blum
and Mrs. W. H. Reichstein will
be in charge of the first meeting.
The psychologist, who pre
ferred to remain anonymous,
said some women want to be
beaten because they are frus
trated and bored with matrimony.

Annual Formal Dinner
Baptist Youth Groups
Held in Pioneer Room
The annual formal banquet of
the Youth Fellowship of the
Medford First Baptist church
was held April 7 in the Pioneer
room of the Jackson hotel. About
45 attended.
The decorations were nautical
in theme, the program being
titled "Ship Ahoy." Centerpieces
were iloral sailboats and indi
vidual favors were miniature
wooden sailor boys carrying
flags. Miss Amelia Kauffman had
arranged the decorations.
The program opened with
prayer by the Rev. W. A. Dawes
and D. M. Minear acted as toast-
master for the evening. Group
singing was led by rred Phillips,
accompanied by Miss Janet
Blum.
A talk on "Our Chart" was
given by Mrs. T. R. Graham,
"Our Compass' was the topic of
Dick Zimmers, Miss L,ois Ann
Glenn spoke on "Our Radio'
and Al Johnson's topic was "Our
Captain.
A girls' trio composed of
Misses Janet Blum, June Darby
and Marian Mitchell sang, and
bovs' auartet. made up of Jim
Grimm, Douglas Brannack, Fred
Phillips and Bob Semon, also
sang. Both groups were accom
panied bv Mrs. uranam.
Uary uosnears gave a reaains
entitled. "Set of the Sail" and
the closing prayer was given by
Mrs. Evelyn Smith.
Followins the program tne
group went to the home of Mr.
and Mrs. J. R. Cochran on the
Griffin Creek road for a social
hour.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Guber
are advisors for the Hi By which
sponsored the annual event.
Needle Art Shop Sets
Opening Here Saturday
Mrs. Frank ane announced
today the opening of Lucille's
Needle Art shop tomorrow in
the balcony store at Ala fcast
Main street, until recently occu-
gied by the Art Center. Mrs.
ane will specialize in yarns,
threads, knitting supplies, hand
made aprons and stamped goods.
Store hours will be from 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m.

Dedication Slafed

The fountain at Triangle park in
Rogue River will be dedicated
at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 15.
James Whipple, a pioneer resi
dent, will officiate at the dedica
tion assisted by Mayor Fred
Denglar and the Rev. D. F. Bar
nett of the Hope Presbyterian
church, Rogue River.
Opening of the spring flower
show in the Live Oak Grange
hall will follow. The hall will be
open all day Friday and mer
chants are requested to have
commercial exhibits placed that
day if possible, and not later
than 10 a.m. Saturday. Commer
cial exhibits will be judged and
awards given.

Held at Wilson Home
Last meting of the Degree of
Honor Junior club, held at the
home of the director, Mrs. H. G.
Wilson, 7 Chestnut street, was
attended by 42 members and
friends. Judy Edwardson was
acting president.
Donna Lee, James Francis,
William Anthony Krause, Carl
Jean Dyke, Gary Dwlght Swan
son and Norman D. Neathamer
applied for membership in the
club.
Eight members practiced a skit
to be given at the May meeting,
s Gloris Larson and Lynette
Gray played several piano solos
and Sharon Graham led the
club yell.
Refreshments were served,
with Roberta Wolfe, Jean Mc
Guire and Lora Mae Letter as
sisting the hostess.
Junior guests were Sharon
Simmons, Ronald McGuire, Ma
rile Miller, Michael Neathamer
and Gloris Larson. Adult guests
were Mrs. Walter Jones, Mrs.
Roberta Wolfe, Mrs. Lillian Win
ters, Mrs. Eston Krause, Mrs.
Leonard Stenerson and Mr. Wil
son. At the May meeting, May 13,
the annual Inspection by the
state director will be held and
Mrs. Wilson states that a large
attendance is desired for this
meeting.
