Losers Local
Ring Matches
The Pete Belcastro-Arne Skaal-
and combination won the tag
team wrestling match over nod
Fenton and the Great Atlas at
the armory last night, but it took
favors by the Atlas and Referee
Earl Yoakley to get it.
More time was spent with all
four principals in the ring en
gaging in wild brawls than in
straight tag team wrestling but
the fans lapped it up and con
stantly screamed for more.
The first fall was won by the
Atlas with a painful full nel
son on Skaaland. The hold dis
abled the likeable Norwegian for
further combat during the eve
ning and Belcastro more than
carried the load alone. He re
sorted to his famed uppercut and
smashed Fenton and the Atlas
all over the joint before pinning
Fenton with a surfboard.
Full Nelson Used
When Belcastro applied the
fall-winning hold, the Atlas
lumped into the ring and waited
until Yoakley gave the fall to
Belcastro. then he caught the
Weed Italian in a full nelson and
held him in it for a minute and
45 seconds before Yoakley could
break it up. The arbiter ruled
that the Peacock of the Ring had
no business in the ring at that
time and gave the deciding fall
to Belcastro.
Ted Bell gave Leo Wallick a
busy time for 43 minutes before
being knocked cuckoo by Wal
lick's pile driver. It required Dr
W. G. Bishop's smelling salts to
revive Bell but he came around
too late for Bell to come back
for further hostilities.

the future prospect for Nevada

Bowling Tourney
Opens, Columbus
Columbus, O.. Apr. 14 U.R)
The American Bowling Congress
tournament will open its mara
thon 60-day grind here tomor
row without impediment from
the courts.
A request for an injunction to
stop the tournament from being
held was denied yesterday in
common pleas court by Franklin
County Judge Earl D. Parker,
who observed that "the lawsuit
comes rather late in view of the
tournament being scheduled to
open Saturday.
The injunction was asked by
Harold Burt of Columbus on the
grounds that the A.B.C. confines
its membership to white males.
Similar injunctions on the same
grounds have been requested
against the A.B.C. in several
states.

Beavers Top
Stars 3 to 1
In PCL Tilt
San Francisco, Apr. 14 (U.R)
Portland's cold, wet weather ap
parently doesn't agree with the
Hollywood Stars. The Twlnks
outhlt the Beavers 4 to 3 last
night in a Pacific Coast Football
league game, but the score was
in the other direction Portland
winning 3 to 1.
The Twinks' loss and San
Diego's blistering 8 to 1 defeat
of San Francisco, left only eight
Dercentage points between the
Padres and the Stars at the top
of the league standings.
Hollywood's games-won per
centage is .714 with 10 wins and
four losses .while San Dicso
stands at .706 with 12 victories
and five defeats.
Portland used Pitcher Lyman
Linde to upset the Stars and re
tain third place on the ladder.
Lynn allowed Hollywood one
-un in the fourth inning, when
Eddie Saner smacked a double
nnri then came home on a single.
The Beavers got their three
runs in the same inning as Hubie
Moulder walked Luis Marqttcz
and Johnny Rucker, then tossed
Steve Mesner's bunt too late to
third. That filled the sacks for
Right Fielder Bob Cherry. He
doubled to score Marquez and
Rucker and came home himself
on Joe Polick's single.
Snow Stops
Ball Games
New York. Apr. 14 (U.R)
Baseball time?
Not today. The beloved Brook
lyn Dodgers returned to their
Ebbets field hangout today for
the first of three exhibition
games against the New York
Yankees. But the game was call
ed off because of snow almost
a half inch of It.
The Chicago White Sox and
the Chicago Cubs also were
scheduled to play their first
game before the home folks at
Chicago after the long winter
layoff and the lazy loping of
sunshiny spring training. That,
too, was called off because of a
wintry blast.
The Boston Kea sox and tne
Boston Braves vowed they d play
their game today if the snow
isn t too deep. Rain changing into
snow was the afternoon forecast,
however, and the temperature
was unbaseball-like 35 degrees.
