Married Monday

Applegate The wedding of
Miss Viola Lucile Ayers, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hunt
er of Applegate, to Dean Wil
liam Lewis was an event of Mon
day. April 3. the Rev. Ward
Lamkin of Murphy reading the
ce at 7:30 o'clock in the
evening at the Provolt Commu
nity church. The bridegroom is a
of Mr. and Mrs. George
L,ewis, also Applegate.
The wedding music was pro
vided by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Brunken at the piano and solo
vox, and Miss Grace Stephens,
who sang.
Given in marriage by ftir.
Hunter, the bride wore a gown
of traditional white satin and
carried a Bible with a white or
chid and streamers of lily-of-the-
valley.
Mrs. Merle Eldridge, matron-
of-honor, wore a yellow gown
and carried pink carnations cen
tered with violets and rosebuds.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Hunter wore a rose colored
dress with corsage of lavender
carnations and the bridegroom's
mother wore a green dress with
lavender carnation corsage.
Merle Eldridge was best man
for Mr. Lewis and ushers were
Raymond Ayres. the bride's
brother, and Billie Joe Hunter
her stepbrother.
For the reception which fol
lowed in the recreation room of
the church Mrs. Doris Ayres,
Mrs. Millie Sloan and Miss Clau
dette Letteken assisted.
Arrangements of snapdragons,
iris, carnations and white spi
rea combined with ferns decorat
ed the church and the recreation
room, and candles lighted the
scene. More than 60 guests were
nresent.
Mr. Lewis and his bride will
live in Myrtle Creek, Ore., fol
lowing a wedding trip. The bride
has been attending high school
in Grants Pass and will enroll
at Mvrtle Creek for the remain
der of her senior year. The
bridegroom attended school in
ProsDect. .

Announces Delegates
Delegates who will attend the
Rebekah assembly in Astoria
May 16, 17 and 18, were elected
at a meeting of Olive Rebekah
lodge Monday.
Those elected are Mrs. Claud
CooDer. Mrs. O. S. Walden. Mrs.
Lewis Thompson and Mrs. A. H.
Hansen.
Alternates are Mrs. L. O. How
ard. Mrs. Merle Ivie, Mrs. Carrie
Milnes and Mrs. Joe Cave. Mrs
H. D. Turner was recommended
for degree of chivalry. Mrs.
Cooper was recommended for
deputy president of the local
lorice.

Reese Creek Extension
Holds Annual Election;
County Agent Speaker
Reese Creek Election of offi
cers was held at the Reese Creek
Extension meeting, Tuesday at
the home of Mrs. Alfred Peile on
Crater Lake highway.
New officers are Mrs. Albert
E. Anderson, chairman: Mrs. Von
Williams, vice-chairman: Mrs.
James Minor, secretary-treasurer.
They will be installed in
June at a special tea the date for
wmcn will be set at the May
meeting.
Roll call was answered with
mottoes. Three visitors present
were Mrs. Richard Bartuss,
chairman of Upper Rogue unit,
Mrs. Elmer Streight, and Mrs.
James Roderick.
Homemakers' Festival will be
held Wednesday, May 3, in the
Central Point Grange hall, and
exhibits will be arranged in the
American Legion hall across the
street. Deadline for tickets is
April 29.
The Reese Creek unit chose
"Herb Seasoning" for its display
for the festival, and will also
plan a skit.
Members are asked to turn in
snapshot for the scrapbook to
Mrs. Callihan if they have not
already done so. .
A meeting on the subiect of
Cancer has been set for April 20
at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs.
James Johnson, route one, box
252. Crater Lake highway. Each
member is asked to bring cookies
and a cup.
Miss riula wintermote, county
extension agent, spoke for Tues
day's meeting, conducting a les
son on "Improved Home Light
ing. Members learned how to
use a light me t e r. were told
about the type of light which
causes eye strain and why cop
per window screens are best.
Convenient placing of light
switches was shown to be im
portant. Miss Wintermote also
spoke of the difference between
direct and indirect and diffused
lighting.
Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Ben
Gardener continued the lesson
on program planning.
Pictures for the scrapbook
were taken and the meeting
closed with songs.
Scottish Rite Women
Announce Postponement
Due to the York Rite conven
tion being held in Medford this
week, the regular meeting of
Scottish Rite Women's club,
scheduled for April 10, has been
postponed until April 17. At this
time the club will hold a lunch
eon in the Central Point Presby
terian church at 1 p.m.
, Installation of new o ff i c e rs
will be held at that time. Mem
bers are to make reservations by
calling Central Point 794, or

Of Adarel Chapter
Honored Thursday
Jacksonville Pioneer mem
bers of Adarel chapter, Order of
the tastern Star, were honored
at a meeting of the lodge Thurs
day in the Jacksonville Masonic
hall.
A covered dish dinner pre
ceded the meeting.
Honored were Miss Molly
Britt. who became a member of
the chapter in 1898 and held of
fice for more than 50 years; Mrs.
Minnie Lance, who was initiated
in 1900; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Langley; Mrs. Nell Frick, who
held office for 23 years and be
came a member in 1913: Mrs. Ida
Wilson, Mrs. V. T. Wilson and
Mrs. Anna Cator, past matrons.
Mrs. Langley served as treasurer
of the chapter for 25 years.
Courtesy girls presented fhe
honored members corsages and
boutonnieres while Mrs. D. M.
Blickenstaff furnished piano
music.
Honored with the pioneers
was Mrs. Mary J. MacKinnan
of Sacramento, who came to
Jacksonville especially to attend
the pioneer meeting.
A poem, "A Tribute to Pio
neers," written by Mrs. Ira Lu
man was read by Mrs. Ina
Huson, worthy matron.
Mrs. Lance was presented a
50-year membership pin and
flowers in an addendum which
was followed by a vocal solo,
"Believe Me If All Those Endear
ing Young Charms," sung by
Menno Bachmann.
While Mr. Bechmann sang,
"When You and I Were Young
Maggie," Mr. and Mrs. Joe War
ren walked into the room dressed
in the fashions of the gay nine
ties." Thev then looked through
an old red plush album which
was purchased in 1888.
The program concluded with
Mr. Bachmann singing a number
of old songs accompanied by
Mrs. Blickenstaff.
Also honored at the meeting
were Grant Todd of the budget
committee of the grand chapter.

matron of Reames chapter, Med
ford. The chapter room was decora
ted with spring flowers and
tables were centered with red
and white fringed antique nap
kins on which miniature covered
wagons, horses and figures of
pioneers were placed.
Place cards were miniature

Gold Hill Lady Lions club
will meet at the home of Mrs.
John Stieber on Fourth avenue
near Eighth street, Tuesday,
April 11, at a p. m. Mrs. Wil
liam Rockford, president of the
club, will be present for the
meeting following her return
from New Jersey.
Instead of a business meeting
on March 28, the members met
at the Stieber home for cards
