Jean Lavin. whose wedding to
Archie Quackenbush is set for
March 25 in the First Methodist
church in Medford, Mrs. Everett
A. Faber entertained at a shower
and tea last Saturday afternoon
at her home in Central Point.
About 55 guests called. '
Miss Lavin is a past aueen of
the Central Point bethel of Job's
Daughters, for which Mrs. Faber
is guardian, and invited to the
tea were members ot the betnel
their mothers and members of
the guardian council.
Guests were received between
the hours of two and five o clock
The tea table was centered with
an arrangement of pink carna
tions, and other decorations and
aDoointments were in this color.
Mrs. Faber was assisted by a
number of bethel members. Miss
Laural Jewett and Miss Caroline
Freeland received guests, and
Miss Donna Lavin, Miss Doreen

will conduct a glove-making
workshop Friday, March 24 at
10 a.m. in the recreation hall
on Priddy street. Mrs. F. D.
Fitzgerald will be leader.
Those attending are asked to
bring sewing equipment includ
ing a thimble, pins, a sharp, soft
lead pencil, ruler, white pencil
and scissors. Everyone is also
asked to bring a sack lunch.

Eagle Point Mrs. Alexander
McDonald was to leave Tuesday
morning for Eureka. Cal., to
spend a week with her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ger
ald Nelson.
Jones and Miss Marian Smith
took charge of gifts. Pouring
were Miss Jan Freeman, queen
of the bethel, Miss Jean Hamil
ton, a past queen, and Miss Don
na Nealon.
Also assisting were Miss Esther
Snook, Miss Nancy Mallon, Miss
Melva and Belva Chew and Miss
Aylene Hopkins.
Mrs. Faber and the bethel
members who assisted her wore
formal gowns for the event.

FL Club Holds Meeting .
Held At Cooper Home
Mrs. Sally Cooper, 528 Hamil
ton street, was hostess for the
last meeting of the FL club. A
salad supper preceded the meet
ing. Plans were made for the visit
of the state president, early in
April. The hostess prize was won
by Mrs. Maxine McQuigg.
Next meeting of the club will
be March 27 at the home of Mrs.

Corn, Wheat Cutbacks
By Farmers Expected
Washington, Mar. 21--(U.R)
Farmers this year intend to cut
back corn plantings 5.9 per cent
and spring wheat plantings 12.6
per cent, the agriculture depart
ment reported today.
Seeking to hold down sur
pluses, the department had set
planting allotments aimed at cut
ting the corn acreage 12.9 per
cent and wheat 14 per cent. Half
of Uncle Sam's $4,000,000,000
price support investment is tied
up in these two grains.
Smallest Plantings
The department said a March
1 survey of farmers' planting in
tentions shows that 82,765.000
acres of corn and 19,724,000
acres of wheat are In prospect.
That would be the smallest
corn planting In more than 50
years. It compares with 87,910.
000 planted acres last year and

busch, Jack Elko, Billie Evans,
and Dewey Gail. Larry Davis
and 'Billie Evans also each re
ceived one gold arrow and Jack
Davis one gold and two silver
arrows.

ing of a Cub Scout" and the
second was "Taking of the Old
Family Portrait."
Theme for the past month for
the individual dens has been
pictures and the cubs brought
to the pack meeting and placed
on display the pictures they had
developed and printed.

Cub Pack 6 held its March
meeting at the Washington
school recently. Den 3 conducted
the flag ceremony and a skit was
presented by Den 4.
Neighborhood Commissioner
John Pattor presented awards,
with George Ice, Monty Penwell,
Arnfin Rasmussen, Gerald Kluk
kert. David Newman, Michael
Wooldridge, Clayton Copsey,
Blake Taylor and Dick Allen re
ceiving bob cat awards. Everett

graduated into the Boy scouts.
